Lakehouse Reno...Need help with exterior design...please!
Comments (21)Sorry, lglossner , but your sketch is way too symetrical and too many materials. I would stay true to the original design and keep the existing siding. Why waste money and add to the landfill? Same goes for the brick; no reason to replace with stone which is now a days is usually faux. Houzz has some great examples of lakehouses for inspiration. Put the ones you like in a Houzz ideabook with notes why and what you like or don't like. You can check out the ones I put together for myself. The point is, that these ideas you collect will be very helpful when you are working with an architect or designer. (I would not wing this without professional help.) Start with what speaks to you. This color would work with your brick....See MorePrograms to help with exterior design?
Comments (2)This was posted last week in this thread https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5817244/exterior-design#24781260 If you're still interested in seeing what other garage and entry doors would look like on your home you can try a free design app we've just released in beta to the iOS app store called Modifai. It provides realistic and instantaneous visualization with your smartphone - just take a photo of your home and then choose from the catalog of garage doors and entry doors to visualize on your home. We're still in development so would love direct feedback from Houzz users as we continue to improve/evolve the experience. Comments (9)It is not completely clear to me what you are wanting advice on that is not "flat, lifeless, square." The hardscape in front of the house (sidewalk, some sort of area you were building, stoop)? So changes in plane of hardscape with some introduction of curves and integral plantings? Or the facade of the house itself addressing some pergola, applied deco, fenestration, balcony, porch? What was intended to be done and started? Future note: be careful when you don't crop pics of what is showing on your picture rolls....See MoreNeed help with exterior design
Comments (7)I don't like to advocate painting brick, but this house would probably look better if the bottom half were the same color as the top. If you don't like the idea of painting the brick can you make the siding the same color as the brick instead? Is it time for new siding? With the black windows you have doubled down on Modern Farmhouse. You definitely don't need the shutters on the larger windows. In the winter plants are not at their best, but your landscaping looks minimal. After you clean the brick (and maybe painted it) put some time and/or money into landscaping....See MoreZory
