I would look at storm door sweeps as that may be your best bet. You also may need to pop rivet something to the face the bottom rail on the frame.

Is there not a channel on thebottom of your door that a sweep slides into? i bought a new one for mine at Home Depot if so

Looking at those photos, it appears that the seal is in the shower threshold piece of the frame and not on the shower door. I'm not sure but think that you are trying to fit a seal to the bottom of the drip rail on the door??

You likely need something that looks like this:

You will need to remove an intact piece of the old seal so you and measure the section that fits into the kerf/ T track in order to find a replacement. The old seal may have been glued or double-sided sticky taped into place. Something like GooGone or another citrus based adhesive remover will make it easier to remove if that is the case.

Because the door is a pivot door, trying to retrofit a sweep will likely be a less than optimal solution.

ci_lantro - I don't think there are any optimal solutions here, unfortunately. I am stuck with trying to mess about with this door instead of replacing it because the width we are dealing with is very narrow and the bathroom is small and awkward, and there are no good replacements for our space that don't cost a ridiculous amount of money because of needing to be custom made.

As you say, I don't think I can really replace the bulb seal on the bottom of the frame. So I am thinking of trying to just remove it as cleanly as possible and then use a sweep that's attached to the door to prevent the water leaking out.

I'm sure it can be replaced. But it will take some elbow grease and a bit of sleuth work. Get a small piece of intact seal out and hit the internet or go to one of those specialty glass places that sell shower doors.

Believe me, I have spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for something that meets these specifications.

Citra-Solv or Goo-Gone, etc., in the channel. Let soak. Use a small flat head screwdriver or a pick (auto supply store picks set for removing o-rings) or a dental pick to lift the gasket out of the channel.

Picture showing the whole shower & door? Because a 24" wide door that pivots in the middle would allow only 12" of open space to get into the shower. That doesn't sound right.

This is what I mean. It doesn’t pivot exactly in the middle, but it’s not hinged on the frame.

I think that's the exact same door that we have! I was really hoping to upgrade to something more contemporary looking but there doesn't seem to be anything within my height and width specifications. The glass also needs to NOT be clear.

It doesn't make any sense to me to replace our outdated-looking 21-year-old door with an exact replica of the same thing. But I very much appreciate your looking, ci_lantro!

I was able to remove the nasty old bulb seal from the shower door frame. I got it started with a metal dental hook tool and once I’d got about an inch of it out of the channel the rest just pulled right up. I cut the end off at the edge of the frame with a utility knife.

Maybe I can add a bulb seal to the track on the bottom of the door instead, which currently does not have anything in it.

I suspect that because you have one of those molded one-piece shower stalls, your options for door replacement are going to be limited. Limited to framed shower doors.

The frame is largely self supporting and distributes the weight & stress evenly over the somewhat fragile stall material. vs high point stress load in frameless type installations.
