Help decorate my 'dual' entry please!
Comments (11)I would get a 4'x6' or 5'x7' and run it horizontally in front of door and then get a long co-ordinating runner to run lengthwise down the hall. How many feet would that be? I would probably end before the stub out past the stairway and you will want some space between the two rugs. I would definitely go with some pattern and color, for interest, as well as not showing footprints/soil, etc. A nice bench on wall in front of stairway would be nice. I really can't see the area the foyer encompasses. edited-I just saw the first picture of the foyer. it doesn't look like there is any place to put anything there, unless I'm missing something....See MoreHelp, conversation seating arrangement with off centered wall/entry
Comments (10)How do you enter the room? Is it through the french doors? If so is there enough room for them to open? I see an arched opening into another room, will you be entering or viewing the space from this room. Movement through the room may influence furniture placement. Walk around the room as you expect to use it and feel how comfortable or uncomfortable the movement is. You may want to consider having a pair of chairs close together with a small table between them facing the other pair mirror this arrangement. This might give more space to open the french doors, or walk between the wall and chairs. If you had a larger piece of art or a grouping between the two windows, so it almost felt like a third window, you may not feel the need to center the chairs there. It's like you want to fill the space between the windows, but do it with art and not furniture....See MoreHelp me complete decor for my townhome's entry
Comments (41)I now have a very fancy laundry room with a wool rug. The runner looks very good in my second floor laundry. Here's a pic of the entry space without the rug. I'm now looking for suggestions for another rug. I can't go too light because I'll be coming in from the garage, but I would like something nice and soft to step on....See MoreEntry decor help
Comments (10)The house is lovely. It might be time to step-up your design style to complement the architecture of your home. This cabinet below is from Crate & Barrel the mirrors from a variety of sources. Looks like the living room furniture could use a boost in terms of style also. Why not consider a fountain outside the entry instead? Your other choice could be in the curve of the staircase, but I would select something tall and narrow nestled in tropical plants. I would leave any green to tropical plants and select a dynamic area rug for the foyer....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
