im looking for a white or off white cabinet color to go with galcier white quartz. Its listed as cool but my sample has warm undertones. ive tried many bm whites and feel confused at this point!

Kitchen floor and living room, dining, entry, halls: Karastan Belleluxe engineered hardwood: Pashima finish. There is a beautiful gray in this wood that might not be visible in these pictures. I'm obsessed with this floor. Specs: 3/4" oak, seven inch planks (maybe 7-1/2"). Fake slate porcelain tile by Daltile in black for the adjacent family room where the dogs live, and laundry room, wet bar area. Our number one choice for quartz: Arizon Tile Silver Stallion Our current top choice for backsplash tile: 2-1/2 by 9-3/4 Arizona Tile in Pearl (very pale gray). Floor, Pearl Concerto Tile at the top, Silver Stallion quartz sample, Concerto tile in White. Flooring is locked and loaded, delivery is the end of this week or early next week. Cabinets arrive next Monday. I hope our selections work well together. What do you think, @Diana Bier ?

It took me forever to finally decide on Silestone Eternal Statuario for my countertops. It's very slighly grey next to my Kraftmaid Dove White cabinets and looks good next to the white subway tile with white grout. I'm very happy. The floors are whitish-grey with a light blue/grey runner. I went all white to escape cave syndrome in my small galley kitchen. I'm adding interest with light wood accents and plants. I liked Lumina, Minuet, Muse, Etude, and Adagio Gold but I was afraid to take the plunge without viewing a full slab. I also very much liked Empira White but the cost factor was about 2.5x higher than my final choice.

Cutting or increasing a colour by a percentage is open to a great deal of interpretation. So it’s kind of a clunky approach unless you have actually seen the results of a specific colour being manipulated from a specific store and liked it. Does it mean somewhat lighter - but the same degree of colourfulness? Does it mean both lighter + less colourful? Whichever it is - you end up with a new colour - which you may - or may not like. You can however, create an effective palette layering white & off-white tones together. The secret? Ensuring the two ’whites’ look deliberate, by having enough contrast so neither looks dingy or dirty next to the other. This can be done by managing their difference in Chroma. (degree of colourfulness) And if they aren’t too close together in Hue, nor too far apart either, this also adds to the degree of contrast. As Colour Guru Lori Saway explains ,if two white surfaces ’have a minimum difference in Chroma of at least 0.2 then neither will appear dingy or dirty alongside the other.’ #huefamilies #white #chroma
