I gave you some feedback on one of your other posts about Stonescapes mini pebble. I know this wasn't one of the colors you asked about, but this is Stonescapes Tahoe Blue:

OMG, I must have jinxed myself. We walked around in the pool today and were puzzled about how it felt -- alot bumpier than we thought it would be. That's when we realized that either our PB or the installer made a big mistake, because we have regular pebbles rather than the mini-pebbles. There's a huge difference between the 2 -- we put the samples we had in the pool and there was no question we didn't have mini-pebbles. The good thing is we have our e-mail where we told the PB our final selection, so it's clearly not our fault. We're waiting to hear what the PB has to say -- they've been great so far, so I know they'll fix it. I just don't relish the thought of what it will take to drain the pool, scrape out the pebbles and re-do it all, so we're trying to decide if we can live with it. We actually really like the look of the larger pebbles, but I'm still not sure I feel like sitting on them in the spa. I'll keep you posted. At the very least, I can show you some pictures of Tahoe Blue regular pebbles, and if we decide to have it redone, I can show you both! There's never a dull moment with a pool build, is there?

Was the 'blotchy' effect that you see maybe a 'concentration' of more pebbles in some areas???? We did have that and the problem was rectified after an additional acid wash and diligent brushing with the aliminum brush for a few weeks. But we didn't have any areas that were blotchy (or differences in shades of color) in the plaster of sort that is the base for the pebbles. Nor did I see any in the other pools we looked at. I felt VERY GOOD about the plaster company my pool builder used--be very leery of some 'inexperienced' plaster companies that attempt a pebble pool. The lack of experience with a pebble finish may be why a pool ends up 'blotchy'. I am not -- and do not claim to be an expert of pebble pools -- but did gain alot of info while talking to alot of people. Hopefully one of the pool builders on this forum could help you in what to look for. BUT...I see your plaster is being applied tomorrow--just ask them how often they put in a pebble finish. And remember to get all black drains, outflows, and pool cleaner--I've seen a few awesome dark plaster pools looking ridiculous with white fixtures. These are putin by the plaster company. Yes you should let them fill the pool. Trowel marks are normal because it's a hand made product. Also, if you still aren't satisfied with the exposure once seeing the water in the pool, the contractor can do another exposure, called a Hot Start. Where acid is added to the pool and a pump (separate from your pool equipment) is strategically located to circulate water. This should remedy most of your exposure issues.
