Paint too matchy matchy with rug? pics
Comments (25)Hi, thanks for the nice words! prill, the paint is "Pumice" by Restoration Hardware. I found the rug at HomeGoods, of all places! We looked all over the place for rugs and I happened to be shopping for candles and it caught my eye. gwbr, we're going to play with the placement of the dining table this weekend. It's a heavy table so moving it is a pain, but I agree with you the alignment isn't quite right. We just had the movers bring it in and plop it down and we haven't had a chance to find the right placement yet. ummm, thanks for the tips! The dining table was custom made by a LA carpenter who makes dining tables out of re-claimed wood. As for your tip about painting the "brown table", were you referring to the little red table? We don't have a brown table except for the small round table b/t the two chairs....See MoreHow matchy-matchy does my lighting need to be?(pics)
Comments (3)Sorry if this is OT, but it might be helpful. I'm not sure what kind of contract you have with your builder or if you have a lighting budget but understand from the beginning what is going to be included in the lighting category. Long story short, we had a certain allowance but didn't know that it included everything: all the pieces of the can lights, and even the lightbulbs. We ended up going over budget even though we had assurances that we had plenty of money to work with. (Apparently the builder's son also didn't know to include those pieces and conveniently "forgot" to include them in the lighting budget until the end.) As for matching, we have an open style and used the same finish (ORB) for those rooms, and even the same design style for the entry hall and diningroom chandeliers and the entry hall sconce. If I had to do it over, I would have done it less "builder special."...See MoreHelp me avoid "matchy matchy" without getting too eclectic. Please :)
Comments (30)Your window is more like 6 feet across...looking at the size of the doors and room. So four feet wouldn't be too small...however, that's massive so you'll have to get one as side in diameter as you can. I think the one above (top right) has more presence than the lower one. I think you have another thread going on this topic? I didn't look but maybe you can ask there, too......See MoreToo matchy-matchy rug and painting?
Comments (21)Love all the comments and suggestions, thanks!! Nobody loves my wishbone Hans Wegner chairs huh? OK... I thought the Danish look would fit right in. No? I also thought that getting a beech wood table/chairs in that room would work with the jute rug to continue the natural look. I know some thing in the room may not be ideal together but I am ignoring that. Ideally, I would like the room to look comfy, scandinavian, modern, casual, Bohemian would be great too:) The two-tone table/chairs are not staying, but having them there for now makes me realize I like white/light much better than any dark furniture. I was thinking of getting these two lamps and putting the table lamp on end table in corner, and the tall one behind the other sofa to the right of the TV. OR...do you all think the lamps (that are definitively needed) at the end of the sofas would have to be matching? Thanks:)...See MoreRelated Professionals
