How often do you wash your painted house?
Comments (1)If your home was properly prepared, before it was repainted, you will be able to wash it in 2 days or so, depending on what type paint you used. You can continue to wash your home, as often as it is needed with no worry of damage. Its not the washing that effects the paint, its what you use to wash it with. On a newly painted home, or even a 5-6 yr old paint job all you should usually need is water, and a soft brush. If you wouldnt use it on your new car, dont use it on your homes paint. Remember your car has a coat of hard clear to protect it your home doesnt. many cleaners will breakdown the paint, and many will dull the sheen. Cleaning your home is the best way to protect your investment, a homeowner whom cleans thier home, a min. of 1 time a year will notice things that need more attention. cracked caulk, thinning paint, peeling, blistering, bug damage, bird damage, squirell damage, mildews, moss, etc. Cleaning your home, allowes you to know your home. Great question, your concern is the first step to protecting your investment, as well as not being the unkept house down the street, and will lead to not having the more expensive repairs later....See MoreHow to re-seal brick backsplash?
Comments (1)There is no good way to get grease off of brick. There is no good way to seal brick that has grease on it. Sealer will not hold the brick together if it's flaking apart. That's not the function of a sealer. I'd personally get out my hammer and chisel and rip the whole thing down. Even if you ended up putting up sheet stainless or a cheap tile in it's place, it would be more functional as a cleanable surface and you wouldn't have to worry about chipping a tooth by biting into a piece of brick in your food....See MoreDid you seal your backsplash grout?
Comments (21)Ok: why does that sound not right to me? "has to breath: so don't seal" Well: if you stick 3cm granite on the walls or 2cm granite on the walls or 12x12 or 18x18 tiles on the walls .....and so on: How is that going to breath? Why would tiny grout lines help in the "breathing" process? I say use Durrock on the walls: slap up the mastic and install the material and seal it! if it's natural. I say seal the grout! Or paint it: if you paint it: with grout paint: it's not staining! My logical thinking only! OK if you are a vegaterian or never cook: Then what is the point of sealing? right? spaghetti sause: oil: grease: butter: red wine: grape juice: red juice; that;s pretty much the messy stuff: I like the idea of Stainless steel stove with the stainless steel splash behind stove area! Would solve that problem when it comes to cooking splatters!...See MoreHow to make your own tile and back-splash (pic heavy)
Comments (25)I'm not sure how I came across this post, I think it was displayed on the right side and I clicked on it being intrigued by the tile making. I was at one time interested in working with papercrete and hypertufa. But after enlisting my brother, who wasn't as enthusiastic, and my niece, who poured cement down my laundry room sink, which original to the house had lasted 70 years, and ruining three blenders, my interest waned. True to form, if I come upon difficulty in a project, I think of it as a sign for me not to continue. And really, after all these years of trying various crafts that result in crap, I should know better. I also should have known better than to ask my brother, who always says it can't be done to any of my unique design ideas. And I should have known better than to ask my niece, who once stayed up all night before having to drive to LA for an art show, cutting mat after mat after measuring once, twice, sometimes ten times, but always coming out with the wrong size. I think we both have math dyslexia. I should video us trying anything crafty to see where we go wrong. I think both of us having ADHD might have something to do with it. Sorry for the backstory and run on sentences. So, I just wanted to see if you continued with your venture. And to say sorry for whatever tragedy occurred to cause you to have to move to Florida. Not that there is anything wrong with Florida, but it isn't Panama. Which is one of my favorite places in the western hemisphere. I hope no one is upset that I brought up a seven year old post....See MoreFori
