The measurements of the navy couch and patterned chairs are:

Couch-75” w x 38” d

Chairs-32” w x 32” d

End Table: 24” diameter

Coffee Table-36” diameter

Chairs Side Table-14” w x 24” d

Not sure if the tables could be brought over

Julie THANK YOU so much for your input, I really value it as well. I provided the measurements of the Navy couch and pattern chairs above, couches a little deeper than what you mentioned.

With these measurements in mind, would you say that I would leave both round tables in the family room and just bring over the chair side table to the living room?

And then, as you say find a narrow coffee table for the living room?

Move furniture into the living room. This will help you. Move sofa first, then a chair. I think this will help you make decisions. I do these scale layouts all the time and I am concerned about transportation (walking space) through this room. You need at least 24” for ease of passage; 3’ best. You can test this. Also, you have partial walls between living room and office and your stairway is also partial wall on end near front door. These all create some space limitations that will impact what you can do. Keep us posted.

Flo Yes, Hope to bring at least the chairs into the living room this weekend. The existing couch is basically the same size as the navy one in the family room, so will try it.

Of course the flipside of this is figuring out how a sectional may work in the family room.

Wondering if a sectional that includes a chaise could work in the space? Thinking that the chaise would have to be on the kitchen side closer to the fireplace. Or would that be too much? And would you recommend a chair in the opposite corner where I have the tree now?

OK. You can do a sectional (no chaise) with 36” deep seat and each side at back 108” long. Max. A 32 x 32” swivel chair for extra seat. A kidney shaped glass top coffee table will make transportation in and out of sectional easier. A floor lamp behind swivel would bring nice ambient light especially in the evening when watching TV. This also shows a 9 x 12 rug to anchor furniture.

Each square in the drawing is equal to one square foot. So keep those measurements in mind in purchasing new furniture. Hope this helps you. Make sure to leave the 4’ beside sectional for easy access to the space.

The weekend was crazy busy with my son’s college admission celebration and my brother’s wedding preparations, so hope to move the chairs soon to confirm that they will work in the living room, before pursuing the sectional idea. Though it is extremely helpful to know how big we can go with the sectional, so that is just what we need right now.

I would point out, that I would go smaller on sectional so you have more options for other features. I just wanted to show you largest size. Congratulations to your son and your brother. Lots of fun for sure!

Flo further clarification, next to the sectional and chair in both living room and family room, can you tell me what those items are?

Hi Monica…If you decide on a sectional I would keep the round coffee table in that room..perfect with a sectional.

Haha. Sure the round shapes with spider centers are lamps. Other rounds are side tables. Plants are represented by kind of irregular wavey lines.

So fun! A kidney shaped coffee table can be great with a sectional because more people seated can access it. Something like these.

Flo good point about the kidney table, here’s the thing, the family room coffee/end table set tables exists now will not fit in the living room. At least I don’t think so with bringing over both of the chairs will have to double check this. That being said, still looking

Do you have “sliders”? These make moving furniture so easy. Super easy to use. Hope that helps.

YES, I agree Flo! OK, put both of the chairs in the living room, in both of the layouts you and Julie gave me, but in order to allow them to recline, the placement didn’t work at all.

Instead, I put one in the corner with the chairside table and I think it works! Didn’t move the navy sofa since the existing taupe one is very similar size.

Then put the other chair in the corner in family room opposite the future sectional. I think that works too. Now trying to imagine a sectional.

So if I move the pieces around as I showed above and add the mocha/graysectional in the family room I would end up with the following items for the two rooms, Would need pillows on the sectional and probably a lumbar on the patterned chair. I put a couple of pillows in there from Etsy Smithy Couture to use the chartruese as the accent color. What do you think? And what size pillows would I need on the sectional?

Also would need some kind of tables in the family room (the one with the sectional). I don't think there is enough room, sectional measures 113" for each side. So maybe those C-tables or stacking type? Need ideas for tables. I also was thinking of one of those small reading lamps for beside the chair in the family room (sectional). Will post a picture of one I was thinking of for feedback.

Yep. Chairs are so large and with recliners you need even more space. A sectional in the family room will swallow whole room. “C” tables are only choice if you do sectional in there. Watching TV in the family room will be good for one or two people. One on sectional facing TV and second person sitting next to them. People on other leg of sectional will have to turn almost around to watch TV. Person in chair won’t have comfortable view of TV at all. How many people watch TV in family room every night? If 2, try both chairs facing TV. They can recline easily and you might be able to tuck shortest sofa on long wall?

Looks good. You need to get sample velvet pillow and see if the greens work. Generally, 18-20” squares for sofas. Lumbar width of inside back of chair and about 12” high.

So the swatches for throw pillows I found are starting to arrive, but in the meantime, I wanted to post them here to get feedback on how to arrange them. Or even which ones I should eliminate? I'm also including a picture of the sectional the color is called heavenly mocha-it does have a fair amount of grey in it. The recliner has the chartruese and navy in it.

Yes, sorry had some technical issues and could not upload photos. Interested to know your thoughts on these pillows. I am conflicted about which of the solid pillows to use; I like the one with the off-white boxed trim, but what should be paired with it, the white and chartreuse banded one or the patterned one for each end of the sectional.

In the center of the sectional, was thinking the solid chartreuse with pattern chartreuse and speckled taupe one or solid taupe one? Or maybe you’d suggest a different combination/pillow? Such a large dark piece of furniture, want to make sure and stay on the lighter side, also thinking about a throw to complement the pillows. If you have any suggestions that would be great as well.

I don't like the off white with box trim with your other picks. My favorites are the green speckled one, white with green stripe and I would do a plain white with texture maybe like one you posted 10 days ago or a grey/taupe textured.

My thoughts. I am not sure of your true green colors so make sure they work with sofa and chair fabric. I found another on Etsy and a large lumbar in corner part of sectional would look great (large though) and be very functional.

I would do 20 x 20 on back pillow and 18 x 18 on pillow in front of the 20”.

cubby14 thanks for your feedback. I really love the solid chartreuse with the boxed white trim, but struggle with what to pair it with, so I agree. Love the green speckled one, but should that be a feature in the center only? Concerned that more than one of those will be too busy with the patterned chair. So you are saying to pair the green banded one with a taupe or off white textured one?
