Comments (34)" Shoot a cat" I hope he was joking..... I have good humor, and thats AWFUL! I've had a pca that really did shoot cats in his youth, plus a few other bad ones (pcas i mean). If you don't want me to bash, tame your humor. Here's a good joke. Okay, so I'm in this bar/nightclub ( on vacation with a camp for people with handicaps),doing an games activity, I'm one of the clients. ( note for it to be funny you must understand I have really long head hair,almost/about mid back length) anyhow my pca Danny comes up to me and starts picking at my hair, (we joke around a lot) I turn, look at him and blurt out "Don't fuss with the follicles man! he starts laughing and then says, "That's the funniest thing You've EVER said to me!", Then I remember the time I first met my Acting teacher, Jason at a job I work at, I'm also his studio/stage prop guest assistant. I told my acting teacher can I put Beetles on your head, or lipstick, or dye your hair weird colors, you know typical joking stuff. A woman actor (Amber) and I always plan to do it,and try to make him think so, ( I said it over and over) so much so that for a rerun lesson, in my to- be- acted character He said "Pretend to be Really Really excited about something, like your about to put Beetles on my head". Thats how I want you to say the line, "Maybe we can start off some fireworks", 20 years old! Thats getting up there but not really that uncommon these days, some cats make it to 30+! though this is rare....See MoreVent space for cat litter boxes
Comments (5)You probably won't find a commercially-available exhaust fan with specs that small. And even if you did, it'd probably be pretty expensive since it'd be such a low-volume seller that the manufacturer couldn't take advantage of economy of scale for production. One possible solution would be to construct your own exhaust system using a brushless muffin fan and ducting of your choice. A 120mm brushless fan in the 20-30cfm range would be virtually silent and can be had online for $5. Figure another $5 for a wall wart-style DC power supply (120VAC muffin fans are available but tend to be more expensive). A muffin fan with ball bearings (as opposed to sleeve bearings) should be able to run continuously for 5-10 years with no problems. As for where to locate the fan, I'd put the fan at the source of the odor rather than on the far end of the duct....See Moremy ongoing old cat litter box dilemma
Comments (22)Wow - I was surprised to see this old post rise up to the top. As long as it's here I'll share an update. This old cat is still hanging in there but I think he is nearing his final days. He is getting more frail and eating less. He has some anemia and deteriorating kidneys but we have decided not to put him through more vet visits when he seems to be comfortable, peaceful and enjoying the heat registers and his basket by the heat duct. I have only seen evidence of peeing outside the box a couple times since I last posted but I do keep him in the bathroom at night now. It got to the point where he would just go in there himself and curl up in his basket so I decided he kind of liked it. Also, this gives him a chance to have a bowl of food to himself all night. He eats just a little at a time so the other cats would always get his food if they weren't kept away from it. This poor old guy has had a lot of health problems over the years and several times I didn't think he was going to make it. I think he truly is winding down now but it still warms my heart to see him curled up in his basket or on the heat registers or next to us on the sofa or next to the other cats on the bed. I would really like him to go peacefully on his own, at home, if possible if he isn't suffering. Here's a recent picture of him enjoying one of his heat ducts....See MoreWhere is your cats litter box and all their stuff?
Comments (28)I have two cats, one litter box, and it stays tucked in the far back corner of the laundry room. It's behind a chest, so it's not seen from outside of the room. Extra supplies are located in two wicker baskets in the coat closet outside the laundry room. The scooper stays propped up under the sink and I have plastic grocery sacks to scoop into and tie up. Toss those in small garbage can under that sink.. Which gets dumped daily when kitchen garbage goes out (or sooner if needed). My main reason for posting it to tell everyone about the litterbox system my DS turned me onto. The Breeze system by Tidycats. He had told me about it and quite frankly I was hesitant. But last fall, he and his GF brought me one of his cats (he has another one and she had a kitten, so three was too many). They brought their kitten down too and a litter box. NO dust. Cost less than regular scooping/clumping litter. No worries about lung cancer from breathing in more cat litter dust (for the last 30 years). No tiny bits of litter all over the floor, in the laundry room, etc. Of course his cat already liked the system. Boo was 5yo when I switched over. No problems. I removed the old box (clumping litter mixed with a bag of new litter) in a week. fyi, I put in 2 bags of litter each time I switch it all out (once a month) instead of the suggested 1 bag of litter. Boo likes to dig and 1 just seems rather thin to me. A 3 pack of pads (which I really thought was going to be the worse part of the system, but they are so good) last depending on how many cats are using the box. 1 change of pad per cat per week. So 2 cats = 2 changes per week. The litter box is slopped above the pads, so pee goes onto the pad - no accidents. Even if you forget to change the pad on time. Holds massive amounts. No smell from pad (actually smells better now than when they used regular litter, imo) but I do keep a solid deodorizer on the floor next to chest just in case. The only negative, #2 is harder for them to cover up (if they want to cover it up) but I'm home and hear them digging (it is louder than regular litter) and usually get it out asap anyway. DD2 and DS work, so they only clean out when they get home/before they go out and their cats are ok with it. I ordered DD2 and me each a system. Three of her friends have switched over. Two of mine have. DD2 and DS both have 2 cats, 1 system. But if 3 cats, I would def get 2 systems. I originally went on a hunt for "best price" as I always do. At that time, PetCo was having an awesome sale and no shipping - even on cat litter, which is really unheard of. I ordered so much Petco called to see if I had really ordered that much. lol If not on sale w/free shipping, I buy the supplies at Wal-Mart. Less than Pet Supplies Plus, even with their "club card" percentage refund of each purchases. DS lives in downtown Chicago and usually orders his from a place on Amazon. Target was not carrying last time I looked and he doesn't have a WM close by. Here is a link that might be useful: Breeze Litter System for Cats...See MoreRelated Professionals
