Quartz counter tops
Comments (49)We've only had our Cambria quartz counter top for about 1 month and I LOVE it!! I did want more of a shine but find it is not very shiney at all : ( But is sounds like more prefer the less shinier type. Around here the popular ones are Oxford, Nottingham and Victoria from what the dealer told me. I like them too and thought that one of those would be my choice but ended up choosing the new Cranbrook Quarry series just because it went better with the cabinets. Preston and Brownhill were also very nice. I was able to take the small 4"x4" sample home for a few days to decide. I can barely see the seem and love how it cleans. Haven't put anything REALLY hot on it, like a slow cooker, and probably won't just because I'm scared to LOL. Here are some pics.......total cost $5700 (install & tax)...See MoreQuartz counter top questions
Comments (35)When people say that quartz looks like "fake" stone it always makes me scratch my head. For me, I love it because it is clean and uniform--if I wanted "real" stone with the variability that comes with real stone, I'd choose granite or marble. Saying it looks like fake stone is like saying that cork looks like fake wood. Two very different materials, two very different looks. Neither one is better--it's what style you prefer. Exactly! But I have found that many people try to sell quartz counters saying they look like granite but are better/easier/tougher (which I think has already been addressed above). Some of their colours do appear to be in fact imitating the look of real stone. I don't think they do well at that, but I totally agree with you that it's a great choice if you want a uniform or clean look or their vibrant colours....See MoreNew countertop or new cabinets and countertop
Comments (4)I would love to add shiplap, but which wall? I would add shiplap to every single wall... of my mother-in-law's house. In all seriousness, the way shiplap caught the public's attention means it was well on its way out of style before it ever caught on. I wouldn't bother with it, you will probably hate it in much less than 12 years. I wouldn't bother trying to spend money to make that kitchen look a little bit better, nor would I pay any money to reface it. There are better options out there for a much more functional kitchen that fits your taste and isn't throwing good money after bad. I would start by posting dimensions here and seeing what this community can come up with. Good luck...See MoreQuartz counter top questions for craftsman style home
Comments (29)I put your choices together I think soapstone would be a great choice, but something in the darker variety. leaving it natural looks completely different than oiling it. this was one I found at a stone place near me: I'd hold off on that backsplash though. wait until everything is installed. you may want to choose a tile that fits more into the Craftsman look. https://info.neals.com/elements-of-a-craftsman-style-kitchen This blue tile would be gorgeous w/your walnut-white cabs, and the soapstone. Check out Winchester tiles. Elements line. I think they have some beautiful blues. Like this Stream color: Heath tiles is another option https://www.houzz.com/photos/craftsman-kitchen-with-soapstone-countertops-ideas-phbr2-bp~t_709~s_2116~a_19-30 other options: Silestone makes their Eternal Charcoal that resembles soapstone. this is the suede finish: I'd also do a copper sink. Or, if the fabricator is good, see if there is enough to make a sink from the soapstone Negresco is another option that is similar to soapstone in looks. Jet Mist/Virginia Mist - honed/satin finish, is a granite with a similar look too. Two-tone cab pics white granite...See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
