You have gotten a lot of ideas from your post! I do not have a cape, nor do I live in the South. Here is what I would do. I LOVE the idea of the peach/pinkyorange concept for the front door. It will set your home just a bit apart from the crowd. I would do the body of the house in a soft pale ivory, not bright white. It will work well with the front door, and speak to the roof color, while not accenting the roof. The shutters would look good in a Taupe Grey, a deep tone to work with the black windows, but not bold black. Possibly SW's Westchester Gray. I also love the idea of the large exterior lights at the front door. They bring attention to where the door is. I would paint the storm door the same color as the front door, to bring continuity. Post pics when you complete this!

The picture is too small so you cannot see the details of your home. Stand closer and take the shot, even if you have to divide the image into two sections. Stand on the sidewalk. Glad you have asked for suggestions before it's too late. I am commenting on this photo. Why is there crown molding here? There is no other crown molding anywhere and it is in no way related to the rest of the trim. It looks lost in translation. Remove it. Why is there picture framing? Remove it as there is no rhyme or reason why it should be applied (and I mean applied) to those wall areas. Just choose one lovely neutral color for all the walls (eggshell finish), trim (semi-gloss finish) and ceiling (flat finish). Let is all blend together. The different sheens will make simple trim look more important. Would you share about the black ceiling?

Thank you all for your input. We made a bunch of expensive changes to other rooms in the house so I'm now at the point of doing little ones bit by bit. The chandelier change is on the list! The house has great bones but it was built in 2016 with very basic fixtures (the fan is just one example). I have three large rugs and this one fits in this room. The original one that did go with the bedding now lives in the family room and has to stay there. Admittedly I don't love the color scheme in the bedroom rug but its the one I have. I'd be happy to change the bedding but I have a black shedding dog that is allowed on the bed. I'll need something dark. I could try cream and see if it drives me nuts :) The headboard pic is attached. Bedroom furniture has to stay. Replacement is in the future but I don't see that happening for 2-3 years.
