Is PlasPro or any other fiberglass door comparable to ThermaTru?
Comments (32)Well...it's my first time on this forum. My husband and I went through their warranties words by words and noticed something : "However, all bare or unprotected wood surfaces (such as door frames) on all steel and fiberglass Products (note: including any bare or unprotected wood surfaces used or exposed by builders, contractors, dealers or distributors on or in conjunction with the Products) should be primed and painted or stained and top coated within the lesser of 2 weeks of installation or exposure to weather." So does it mean that we need to paint over the hinge location? who paint the hinge area before installing the hinges? NO ONE does that. Anyway, we end up with PlastPro door and we are very happy with it. Plus, their door doesn't have the ugly screw hole around the glass like the old door....See MoreFiberglass entry doors in central Florida, Plastpro or Therma Tru

Comments (1)No question Provia makes the best doors whether it's steel or fiberglass. I don't think I have ever replaced an old Provia, but I have certainly replaced nearly every other brand including the cheap doors people foolishly buy from hardware stores. I'm kind of surprised you can't afford the painted Heritage Fiberglass Provia Door. It's a little more than the 20 gauge smooth steel, but not that much more. Have you looked at the texture steel Provia? My advice would be to get another estimate from a different Provia dealer. Don;t settle for second best when it comes to your doors. You will never be sorry for buying quality products....See MoreTherma-Tru fiberglass door - any odor/offgassing?
Comments (20)We purchased our fiberglass door from Lowes 3 1/2 mos ago. Gasious urine odor caused us to become sick - dizzy, with headaches - and we were forced to move from our home. After moving from home and spending over $2,000.00 for mold, radon, and Co2 tests, gasous odor still existed. Son isolated front door by sealing off area by door to living room with plastic, and there was no longer odor/gas...We had it installed by a carpenter from Home Advisor because of long wait for scheduling Lowes installation. I have found on internet that door should have been sealed and painted. Door came with no instructions, nor were we told about sealing or painting door. at time of purchase. Was your door sealed and painted? I want to know if sealing and painting door now will eliminate gasous urine odor? Many, many thanks!...See MoreGwen
