How would you decorate this great room wall?
Comments (18)I would buy the largest rug possible for the area with the sectional which will help to "pull out" the sofa from that corner. Something with a bit of color to liven up the monochromatic look of the wall and sectional would really help. Instead of red I would consider yellow or lime green pillows, and also pillows with more colors and patterns. I don't see any lighting in that corner which gives it a rather "dead" look. A tall lamp to the left of the sectional would add height to that area in addition to light. Since the mantel already has a shelf-like look, I'm not sure whether shelves are the best idea. They should at least look very different in design and I would paint them the color of the wall. That will make whatever you put on them really stand out. It's a very nice room otherwise. If you like art, a beautiful picture over the mantel would make that area more of a focal point....See MoreHelp! Great room redesign/decor.
Comments (6)I like your house very much. Where would you like to add some black? I am not sure different paint would be a great idea- I tend to like white paint in general and I particularly like it where the architecture is strong, so for me the walls are perfect. I would get rid of the things on top of your cabinets and enjoy the little person who occupies the high chair ;-) BTW your counter stools are gorgeous and perfect for your place. I don't see mistakes here....See Moreneed advice on finishing great room decor
Comments (125)@HomeInteriirsWithEase- I can see how that would be ideal, bc that would make the fireplace the focal put and connect the room. However, we have a complicated situation. My daughter with special needs is in the room through the doorway by the TV. We need to be able to go from the bathroom (behind the built in) to the room where she is in via a bath chair that rolls. Hence I need an easy path from that room to the bathroom. If the sofa is there, I would have to leave at least 3 ft between the wall and the sofa, it would be an awkward layout. Not to mention that the kids and DH like to watch TV from the kitchen table and that is behind the sofa. I have to make the best of the current layout. We can plan to love the fireplace when we remodel the kitchen. I ha e thought about a electric fireplace under the TV....See MoreDecorate great room around a pool table
Comments (19)Can you get more of that floor tile? Consider tiling the carpet end of the room, moving the pin ball right of the slider/French doors and placing the pool table parallel to the window/door wall under the fan fixture, which could be switched out for a traditional pool hall style light if you want. Anchor a small chaise sofa on a great rug in the center of the current kitchen space. Hang TV where you have your dining table now. Place a drop leaf table behind the sofa to work as a sofa table, a dining table for 2 with one leaf up, and a dinner party table when totally open. That's when you'd push the sofa against the wall and float the table in the middle for the dinner, putting it all back afterward. Extra chairs can be rented for those occasions or folding ones can be stored until needed. The first two are formal looking rooms and furniture, but you can glean the idea from them. The third one might be more your style....See MoreRelated Professionals
