R daylilies 2021
Comments (41)Roses for Dallas --not registered height, but hasn't been beneath foliage here. Growth habit is like Carolina Cool Down, but a bit shorter. Ring the Bells of Heaven --when it is good, it is very good, but can be quite splotchy. Royal Girls --strong and pure color. This picture after some sun. Rogue Wave --not as tall as registered Regina Sitko --big and showy, but doesn't like afternoon sun. The spent blooms are like a glob of wet kleenex. Rogue Primate --satiny red out of Arrogant Bastard...See MoreApril 2021 in my hosta garden
Comments (117)utog..another silhouette pic!..this one's great too!.. your garden's looking good!..we had 2 inches of rain Wed night..I had standing water (common in our high water table neighborhood) in my usual spots..so I didn't walk around in back today.. my still unclipped ratty winter foliage on an Autumn fern..they're slow for me.. the Japanese Painted ferns look fresher than the Autumns beside them..maybe because the Japanese Painted ferns die back?.. n2hostas..my green ginger is a good spreader..plant it with some space..but my craziest groundcover is this Lamium galeobdolon..can you see the variegated plant behind this bleeding heart?..that's it.. miles..there was a post a long time ago where someone used a wide shallow container for mini's and had success.. when I clean, weed and top with compost these plants will look prettier.....See MoreHosta Companion Plants 2021
Comments (43)I have just rekindled by love of heuchera! Here are 3 that I have had for a few years. Top left is a NOID; to the right of it is Tiramisu (a beautiful coloring in the spring, kind of orangy?, then turning to yellow); center is Forever Purple which the grubs got. I was able to salvage one stem. A shame. Top right is Bowles Golden Sedge. Tiramisu heuchera in the spring. Frost heuchera (a mini). One that I just love. This color in the spring is almost metalic like. Dwarf Goatsbeard. The only picture I took of it this year was this photo in November. I liked its coloring!...See MoreHosta Leaves 2021 ........................
Comments (25)Thanks to Paula and so many of you for keeping the alphabet going! We just got snow and more predicted (a good thing!) so I won't be in the gardens just yet. The first one ....# 5, Be a plant, lol. Cats like to fit themselves in anywhere they can. And I hope the float a poo is only a joke. That will have to come down somewhere sometime. utog, perfect shots of June and Tokudama flavicircinalis. hosta_maker, beautiful leaves on Wildest Dreams! old_dirt, Don had such enthusiasm for hostas.
