Paint color where kitchen cabinets leave a small, visible wall area

I have an eat-in kitchen with a U-shaped cabinet area. On either end of the cabinets, there will be a small area of wall visible. I need help choosing the color to paint that small area. I have included photos of the room and plans.

I am carrying the tile backsplash up the wall around the window, behind the shelves to the ceiling. At the end of those cabinets starts the bump-out and the eat-in color. I imagined the tile would go right to the wall edge with the counter, so the only spot of wall showing would be below the counter.

On the other side, the fridge goes to the end with a floor to ceiling panel on the left. There is a small drop zone cabinet right there, so the visible wall would be above that. The LR is behind that wall and the transition color into the kitchen.

We are also replacing all the woodwork and doors in our house; they will be white.

Wall space on shelf side: white to match cabinets or eat-in color?
Wall space on fridge side: white, eat-in color or transition color?

Eat-in SW 6277, LR transition color SW 7029.

I truly appreciate any help or any other suggestions. Thank you!

I can't quite visualize what you're saying but I think what you're asking is what to do about a small strip of wall next to the cabinet below the backsplash, right -- ? .

I tiled all the way to the floor. It was either than or paint it, and the tile gives a much more finished look and visually stops the space. I also took it all the way up to the ceiling and around the entire top of the crown. Trimmed off w/pencil edge. (This is still a work in progress -- kitchen ceiling/house painting not done yet) (click photos for better view)

That is what I was trying to describe. Your wall is pretty much what my wall will look like but with the shelves. I had not even thought about doing the tile below the counter! Thank you for sharing.

Since we cant see all the room, but, what we can see, looks like the kitchen may be on the smaller size, I wouldnt paint the cabinets gray on the bottom. I love gray cabinets, but, not white so much, but, in a smaller room, the white helps it look a bit bigger. I am not fond of the wall color, but, your backsplash is gorgeous, and so much fun to look at too. If you like the wall color, then keep it, and just touch up wherever your cabinets need it, very carefully, with the proper type of paint. Looks like a nice space, just the way it is. Enjoy your new home.

Hi @Lisa :) Sometimes... I spill way too many words! so I've edited this sentence in, to give you the heads up that the short answer to your question on dimentions of our lounge/kitchen room is now in plan form having been added to my first post :) The front door belongs to this room -it's got 2 glass doors that open outwards and on each side of these french doors are windows of the same height as the doorway. In the first photo there's a white foot rest cushion in front of one of these side windows It's 1.3 meters (4.26 feet) from the edge of the coffee table to the doorway frame I took the second photo when squashing against the glass of one of the two doors (the door closet to the sofa) We always use this door (of the two) next to the footrest . So when you open the door the view is exactly like photo two, I tilted the camera up to see more of the ceiling From the front door to the back of the two single chairs (second photo) is around 4.5meters/14.76 feet - the floor plan below is a bit vague where the lounge area ends and kitchen begins :) And the room is 4.4 meters (14.43 feet) from the back wall of the corner sofa to the wall behind the tv. ** Edited to now include a floor plan to my first post Thanks Lisa:)

@chispa That is a sweet story. Thank you. Display is definitely needed, especially in an open concept home. I have very few walls for artwork, even, which makes it challenging to showcase any personality. Unlike your wall unit, mine is bulky. Yours is great, with the frame TV. So I agree with you and @blfenton that limiting my paint colors will help streamline the elements. As of right now I am leaning towards keeping it simple and painting the trim, wall unit and cabinets to White Dove, with an eye toward changing the tile/granite hopefully in the near future. For the hood and pantry door I'm thinking of doing the wall color or the White Dove and hopefully that will make everything less busy. I can see so many options which makes it tough to stick with a decison. At least with white, I am thinking if it doesn't work it would be easier to paint over if I had to.

The red line is where a small bit of wall will show on each side. I apologize if I didn’t explain that well.
