The word art is informal and the mirror is contemporary while the house is traditional. Do you want to add more traditional pieces?

The mirror is too large relative to the size of the blue chest, and probably too large, period. Can you post a picture that shows the area to the left of it? You should be looking for something taller than the blue chest, and unless you're planning on repainting, the color is wrong also. But you probably already know this since you going to return it. :-)

If i had your home and wanted to make it more contemporary , I would PAINT. Your mouldings, although beautiful scream traditional. I would paint the walls in a flat that is the same color as the millwork. The millwork then becomes a layer of texture and not a ”distraction” to a more modern home. I might also add a bit of black here or there, maybe paint the mirror but i do like the brass color.
