How to clean paper from washer drum?

We just recently had our new washer and dryer installed and they had ran a quick cycle to make sure it was in working condition. Apparently they did not look inside the washer before they started a test cycle because the manual was in there as well as a plastic bag with some plastic part in there. 🥲 I am not sure what the best approach would be to clean this. i am in contact with the company to get it sorted but until then I would like to atleast use the washer. 1st pic is inside the washer second is the wad of paper I got out.

Do you have a shop vac that can vacuum wet things? Or borrow one? That paper is probably going to gum up the works (maybe?) but that's not really your problem because they will need to replace the machine. I'd vacuum (if you have a wet/dry vacuum) all you can get out and hand pick the rest (be sure to clean the door gasket as it's probably full of stuff) and put a couple of towels in the machine and wash several loads until it's all gone. Pull out the towels between washings and shake out any paper clinging to them. It might actually all dissolve and wash away; the towels will help buff off things from the wall. I'd probably add a bit of detergent, too, as that can help dissolve paper/glue on the interior parts that you can't reach.

So sorry this happened to you. I would have it replaced. Leave it as is if you can. No excuse for this period.

Asolo Does this work on your machine? Yes, There is another cycle which is a diagnostic code sequence that comes up C:01 through C:05 (I think) but some have mistakenly thought that was a clean washer cycle. I think that's just for a tech to check for issues with the washer.........But the sequence above is a true clean washer cycle. I've never been so shocked when it worked with my machine. I posted it on another forum and several are saying that sequence doesn't work on their machine which is about the same ago as mine and are either Duet washers or the Kenmore versions. I wonder if instead of extra rinse 4 times at the end if they should be using the prewash button instead. My machine doesn't have prewash so I'm wondering if the ones that do need to use that instead of xtra rinse. Can't imagine why it would work on mine but not theirs.

HU-382744289, Two methods to confirm if water pumping from the recirculation port during spin is the source of your problem: - Raise the machine's top deck for a look-see during spin. Pry out the two lid bumpers near the front corners. Remove the screws. Raise the top just enough during the final spin when running a load to peep beneath to see if any water is flowing from the recirculation port, hitting the rim of the spinning basket and splattering around inside the cabinet. Don't raise the top any higher than necessary. The motor wires that come up at the right rear corner into the control console can get pinched and cut against the sharp metal edge of the cabinet. - Operate the diverter and pump via Diagnostic Mode to check for improper water flow. 1) With the machine power Off, press and HOLD Wash Temp Down, then press Power at the same. Should get two beeps and the panel turns on. Release the buttons. 2) Press the Delicate cycle button to activate the diverter (takes 2-ish mins to shift modes, there's NO indication on the panel when that's done so do it first so it can shift while you do the rest of the test preparation). 3) Press Wash Temp Down to run some cold water into the tub, up to maybe the low water level mark. Press again to turn the water flow off. 4) Wait a little longer if 3 mins hasn't passed since Step 2 to insure the diverter is shifted to recirculation mode. Then press the Regular cycle button to turn the pump on. 5) Water should flow from the recirculation port and NONE from the drain hose. 6) Press Regular and Delicate to turn the diverter and pump off. 7) Wait 3 to 5 mins for the diverter to shift back to drain mode. 8) Press Regular to run the pump again. 9) Water should flow from the drain hose and NONE from the recirculation port. Lift the edge of the tub cover a bit to see under it to confirm no flow from the port. Let all the water drain, then press Power to exit Diagnostics.

Ruined, no. They still provide end grain protection for your wooden posts. The original plane of surface treatment has been etched lower by the action of chlorine and organic detritus, pitted, IOW. The recourse would be to take the high spots down, which could be tedious, but doable with high speed buff and cut&color. An alternative would be to blend everything together which would not allow a polished finish but gleaming nonetheless. At least for a short time lacking any coating.

beaglenc - I have another issue with an oily film above the water line. I am not having it with regular laundry such as whites or my colors. The issue comes up with my husband's work clothes. So I have concluded that it is the greasy dirt coming off his clothes. I have tried Wisk and it is better but still there. The reason I think this has shown up now is that during the winter and early spring he was not doing any greasy work at a drilling rig but was just working at the papermill. I bought the Speed Queen on 3/31. The GE Adora that I had before the SQ barely agitated his clothes. I really think it wasn't breaking the soil down that was actually on his clothes although they looked somewhat clean. Anyway, I certainly can't afford the water to wash his clothes twice so I think I will just stick with Wisk for now and add vinegar to the wash and rinse. (I added vinegar to the wash and rinse yesterday and there was much less of the oily film). BTW, the Tide Turbo HE was definitely creating a scum for all my laundry (whites, colors, hubby's work clothes). I think it was the type of scum you were describing. I quit using it and don't see that on my whites and colors anymore.

Paper pieces of varying sizes have escaped the inner drum into the outer tub and been flushed to the pump filter. The filter needs to be checked and cleaned. You didn't cite the brand/model of the machine. Does it have a hatch-door on the lower panel for the user to access/clean the pump filter? If not, then disassembly is required.

If this happened to me, I would call the vendor and have their installers come out and clean out the mess if disassembly is needed. IMO, they bear the responsibility, since they ran the initial cycle without checking for anything inside the tub.

Looks Like a GE Fresh Vent (judging by the blue reflection of the door seal).

Get a vacuum and vacuum the (dry) bits of paper from the drum. As Dadoes said: clean the filter in the base of the wash and run rinses or the cleaning cycle, while cleaning/checking the filter after each drain. Also: yes, have them replace the wash.

I remember my Electrolux washer I purchased before the 617's came out. Home Depot had it on truck upside down. I seen it in truck that way, accepted it and then then returned due to drip marks on front panel that never could be removed. I exchanged it for same, hated the damn thing and got the 617. I will never buy another Electrolux.

Installers from places are not the sharpest tools in the shed. This type of mistake is rare and tells all. They should be fired. Having a new unit dismantled over this would be too much for me to take. Replacement period!

What a mess! I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I’d shoot for a replacement, but you may have a tough go convincing them. When I got my new W/D, the installers turned on the dryer without anything in it; told me to let it run for about a half hour. The installers left and less than 10 minutes later I heard loud, grinding and metallic sounds. Long story short - something was broken in the brand new dryer. I immediately asked for a replacement, not a repair. They insisted on doing a repair first. (This was a local family owned business). They took the entire machine apart, and took 4 trips to reassemble and get working somewhat . It never worked properly, so I finally got my replacement after about 2 months. It was ridiculous. I wish better for you.

Wondering if Sarah ran the washer and what happened. Hopefully the manual was one of those two page things and she had most of it in that wad. Can't believe the installers did not peer in and see there were things in it while it was running. Certainly when it started its initial tumbling they could hear the manual and the bag of part(s) rumbling around.

It would be a non issue for me as I would have made them take it with them when they left and replace it when another one became available. The paper you can see you may be able to get rid of, however it is the paper that may have made it through the drain holes and down into the pump filter. That is what I would be worried about in the long term.

With all the supply chain issues, I would not have had them take it - who wants to live without a washer for a few months? I'd get it as clean as possible (using the clean machine cycle was a great suggestion) and if it functions well enough before they send a replacement, I wouldn't even go to the trouble to try to clean the pump or anything internal. Too bad if it ruins it in the long run; that's the problem of the dealer who is going to replace the machine.
