Paint color needed for small powder room
Comments (3)That's better. ⺠You are on the right track going with a green tone to balance the red tones in the cherrywood floors. If I had to vote without seeing the actual room, I would choose the RH Sycamore. RH seems to have chosen just the right colors for their limited collection of offerings that transcend all decor types. Having no windows could make the BM Camouflage look dingy but maybe not. My observation has been that RH paint tends to change greatly in the light. Are you going to use incandescent or florescent or halogen or some other? Definitely test the paint in the room and check how it behaves with different lighting through out the day. You can get a little eight ounce can to test with. In such a small room the mirror is going to be the focal point so invest in one with some interesting details. That and some classically elegant lighting fixtures around the mirror will make the room sing. Check with your realator to what is popular in your area for sink fittings and light fixtures. ORB? Brushed Nickel? Other? By "fixtures" I meant the sink and toilet. I see you are going with White and not trying to work with an Avocado, Dusty Rose or that horrible '70s Beige. Not that it could not still look great but without knowing what color your fixtures are it would have been foolish to suggest a color like Blue Wisp and then find out the toilet and sink are String Bean Green with an oak vanity. Good luck with the project and if you can get pics of the finished room to share that would be nice....See MoreDark paint in small windowless powder room?
Comments (24)Glad to hear you sound excited about the Caponata. 'Tis true that you can never tell what a paint color really looks like until it is actually up on the wall in the room to be painted and interacting with everything in there, including and especially the lighting. I also think painting swatches on a wall, even in the room to be painted, is useless. It's so deceived by the existing wall color surrounding it. I have found that, painting the swatch right up to any trim, coming from behind a fixture, like a sink, etc., really helps to get a good idea as to what the color will look like. Fortunately for you, the light in your powder room doesn't really change throughout the day, since you don't have a window, so you won't get any surprises, like in the morning it's great color, but in the afternoon, it goes blah, or whatever. Let us know what you decide and post pics when and if you're able!...See MoreNeed help picking a small powder room paint color
Comments (49)Hi all! Thanks for all of your suggestions. The laundry chute is non functional as the previous owners inadvertently blocked part of the opening in the basement when they had it finished. I'm thinking about skipping the shelves and putting a towel bar and then some artwork hanging on the wall above it. @boxerpal The color is SW Grape Mist. I really like how it turned out!...See MorePowder room vanity ideas to make more space for litter box
Comments (26)If you decide to have the underside of a wall-hung sink visually exposed and want it looking neat, check out Duravit.com. Duravit sells matching pedestals that do get in the way, but also ”siphon covers” that hang on the wall and hide the plumbing behind a porcelain cover that only goes halfway to the floor. They also sell countersinks, in which there is a sink in the middle or one side or the other of a large porcelain countertop, all one piece. A larger, deeper one of these can give the litterbox more cover. You can also get a cheap vanity and cut a cat door in the side of it and use a tray with higher sides to try and capture litter that escapes the box. With two doors on a frameless front, you should be able to pull out the tray to brush it off and wash it. You could also look into furniture pieces that are made to hide the litter box and could look nicer. An activated charcoal filter hung in there and changed regularly could make a cabinet cat box smell better without adding perfume that the cats probably would not like. That works pretty darn well in the Toto deodorizing toilet seats....See Morejanisstew
