Living Room- help with throw pillows, and lighting
Comments (29)Your home is beautiful! When I looked at the pic of the sofa wall as a unit, I would just lower the painting a little and add simple vertical sconces to complement it. Since you have a lamp on the table between chairs, plus your ceiling fixture, would it provide enough light with sconces? I suppose you could also add lighting on your buffet piece. We have a "room" off our kitchen that gives me fits trying to arrange. It has a slider to the back yard, too, so that eliminates one wall for furniture. Agree with pillows in the blue tones, with maybe a little pattern for contrast with your sofa. If you put your sofa in front of the window with chairs opposite, would you have enough width to accommodate that? That might be fun to try, too, but you'd probably need to move your painting, or put a narrow console table under it with a lamp on it, so the painting doesn't just float on that wall by itself. Take pics when you decide. I love that rug, btw!!...See MoreAdvice on accent pillow/throw colors
Comments (13)I feel like I want to 'push' your furniture back a bit. It's like you're trying to fit everything on the rug and it looks squished. give everything some breathing room. you've got some beautiful pieces in there. very nice room. the color opposite gold/mustard on the wheel is purple. I think any tones of purple, aubergine, violet, would look very nice and compliment what you have. as for the wall above the bench, something like this artwork would be a nice addition: https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Blissliving-Home-Aya-Purple-and-Metallic-Print-Cotton-Decorative-Pillow/14193588/product.html?TID=QV2:VIEWALLDETAILS...See MoreThrow Pillows Help
Comments (25)I like the sofa/rug/pillows (I don't mind the xmas plaid one either) love the idea of poinsettias or the tray on the bench w/the xmas decor. However, the generic art pieces are a huge no. I'm sure once you paint the walls you can find something better to hang. as for the rug, the way to solve the problem is to layer it over another larger sisal or jute rug use something light like the creamy one above, or somethng like these (this one is Hira, natural Ivory, 8x10. you want something a foot larger(minimum) than what you have now) Birchlane Jute rug: Or, just get a larger rug, maybe like this, and use the other elsewhere. I like any of these colors. and they all work w/your flooring. I really like the Abalone Shell w/your white/black palette. the languid blue is nice too. (the others on your wall seem a little too blue/gray) here are two diff art pieces w/the same tones as these paint colors. the abalone shell is a red based color so it really works nicely w/your reddish wood floors. the two grays are on the warmer side, rather than blue undertone. some other grays some others w/diff art...See MoreNeed help picking out throw pillows for living room!
Comments (13)What does your husband have to say about the office? Does he like any of the colors/elements you have in there? If that's the new rug your getting in pic 3, that's the best source for your new colorway. Why not remove the mirror from the mantel since it only reflects the ceiling fan, and try your colorful painting in its place? See how he reacts to that injection of color. To continue in that vein, clear out the cabinet to the right, paint some luan or wallpaper some foam core cut to fit the backs of the shelves. Do you have any of that wallpaper from the office left over? Style the shelves with 1/3 books, 1/3 large decor items and 1/3 open space. Limit photos to a couple and not on the same shelf level. Put foot stands on the the smaller ones and set them on table tops, buffets, dressers or side tables throughout the house. Have you ever considered painting the fireplace satin black? Gray is so past its expiration date, IMO, and is not helping the beige sectional fit in. Every room can use some black....See MoreJilly
