It's a nice mirror. I thnk it would look great if you hang it on the wall, so that the bottom edge is above the wainscoting (which is lovely!) I think it's just too low resting on the console. Also, love that console!

Yes, a dressy frame is nice with texture of console.

I wasn’t sure if putting the mirror on the wall it might look odd with wainscotting? And then also having such a large gap in between.

Down on the console it isn't reflecting anything worth seeing twice. Hang it above the wainscoting and if all that is reflected in it the shelves get art instead

it's fine to hang it on both wall/trim molding.

tried to photoshop it. you might need something a bit larger

a taller plant in the right corner would give you some needed vertical height. everything stops at the wainscot level and the eye doesn't move up. The mirror will help w/that, and a taller 'tree' plant will too

Hope you don't mind me asking you a question. Your console looks great and I've been looking at some similar to that. Are the things that are inside noticeable through the doors?

Mine - I'd say it depends what will go on top of the table. In general either above wain. or straddling it. Is the plant a bit high....

I’m thinking the mirror is too small and I never thought about the mirror reflecting part of our living room. You can see the tv and shelves. So would a big piece of art look better above the wainscotting?
Also I moved my huge fiddle next to the cabinet.

And this is with a frame. Should I go bigger? And someone asked if you can see things through the cabinet, no you can’t.

Doesn't have to be black (although I think black would look amazing) but I think the white on top of the white board/batten is too neutral)

Thank you Beth for all your amazing ideas! I have been thinking of painting that wall a dark colour! Just worried about making the area look closed in as it’s not a huge amount of space. Also a picture that is more tall than long would look better in your opinion? I feel like I need to have a larger more horizontal photo there? But maybe like the photo you showed, have it just above the cabinet but vertically?

I think the problem is that the console is low. But I like a large piece of art better than the mirror.

Such a lovely room with textures. Great job! No real advice -but the mirror being higher up looks much better than sitting on the console.

It won't make it look darker or closed in. It's only paint. and it's a small wall.

I have a wall painted in my house. I used Behr Beluga.

I also mixed beluga w/25% Hale navy and did a wall in my dining room

I have this one too. If you have a lot of grays in your room, this warm charcoal may work.

After it's painted, then you can pick your art, or a diff mirror.

I would suggest artwork instead of a mirror. Unless the mirror reflects something pretty or interesting it just doesn't work well.

Plant on right helps...large art on wall, one piece, not two...or a collection. Not one piece of vertical art. Mirror is okay but if it reflects tv that will be super annoying when tv is on. Lovely room! Agree, wall in a contrast colour to wainscotting and it wouldn't have to be dark.
