Hello-

I am about to paint my exterior and after many many color samples from various brands I decided on on a BM color. When I was looking on their website just now it appears like only ben Waterborne and Regal Select are the options. From searching this site it seems like I should use Aura but I don't see that as an option. Are the other two decent quality? Should I scratch my color decision and start over again with a SW color? I would appreciate any advice! Thank you!

I see that they say Aura exterior is the way to go on the BM site so not sure what the issue is .IMO you see what BM suggests not some random strangers on this site.

Christopher Nelson Wallcovering and Painting - I plan to buy BM Regal for my master bedroom. Valspar is around $35 per gallon, and at that price I'll just pay $15 more and get my favorite BM paint. Don't laugh, but I was considering Glidden's new paint at walmart - it's called Complete line or something, and it's $25 a gallon for flat and claims to be highly scrubbable. At $25 a gallon it would only cost me $100 to paint my bedroom. BM is going to cost $200. So yes, I was considering a cheaper brand, but as luck would have it (since I hate making decisions) - Glidden can't color match my BM color, so there's no more choosing - I'm going with BM for the bedroom. But when I paint my garage then I may go cheaper. When I painted my basement I used BM and Valspar and both went on fine. I do prefer Regal over any other paint, especially if price isn't a factor.

White Dove is pretty. It has a slight warmed up edge to it and its nuance definitely leans a bit grayed which in some lights or shadows could read a little green - so watch out for that. Navajo White is lovely too, but it's not 'white'. I'd call it a very, pale beige. What to watch out for with Navajo is its going a little 'fleshy' in certain context and certain qualities of light. Montgomery White is pretty and it's not 'white' either. This one I would classify as a very, pale taupe. Exterior it could read a little cool. In comparison to Navajo it's definitely going to look cooler and grayer. A crisp just 'white white' to thro in the mix would be Super White. BenM's Decorator White sees a lot of spin and some people think it's a 'white white'. I don't. I think it's rather grayed to an extent that it almost looks uber pale light blue in some context/exposures. Be that as it may, that's another one you might wanna snag for comparison in your color selection process.

If you go with a dark red make sure it is intense enough to stand out against the brick. I wouldn't recommend white shutters. They stand out against the brick but from a historic context you would almost Never see a white shutter on the exterior of a house. I surprised that you live in a fairly rigid association. Your new house appears in better condition than your neighbors' houses which have some condition issues. Missing shutter, broken railing, mossy roof. One of the reasons that I left an association was because of the strange application of rules and regs. It kind of depended upon what a particular board member at a particular time was fixated on.

I’m guessing the best for wickham gray is in south facing areas? My fireplace has bluish undertones and clashes with my current color with purplish undertones. but exposure is southern here....Would mine be a good candidate if I plan on painting the area adjacent from it white duck sw (north facing) Any help would be appreciated. I’ve been trying so many colors out even after I was sure I had found the ones 😑

@Jessica Smith, we installed one new door last spring, but are planning for a complete residing & trim job, so researched paint accordingly. I disagree with Patricia here Even though I really like my BM dealer, I have gotten completely opposite opinions, depending on who I talk to, and what questions I ask! (i.e., salesperson vs. owner vs. manager)!

The Regal Hi-Build is best suited for spraying. It is too thick and does NOT level if applied by hand to trim or doors.

After a very frustrating try with it, we had our BM dealer order the original Regal Select MoorGlo (40-55 soft gloss @60 degree angle). (Delivery was not an issue then, but may be now.) It was MUCH better than the Regal Hi-Build.

Depending on your application, either would be a high quality exterior paint. If you need both, the colors should match perfectly.

I would only use the Aura Exterior for doors. (It was originally formulated to achieve greater color depth.)
