Dining room update
Comments (26)Kerry, It was almost a year long adventure with EA. I ordered the table in white as you see which took 3 months to get, but the finish/varnish had a flaw. EA replaced the top which took more than 3 months and that one came with hairline cracks throughout the top. It looked like a crackle finish. After waiting more than 6 months for something which was paid in full that still wasn’t right, I opted to choose a different finish, one that wasn’t custom and I figured they had done before. I ordered the earl grey and I love it though it was another 3 plus months before it came. I’ve been happy thus far. We use placemats and are all adults here or I use the custom table pads and a table cloth with larger groups. I almost went with the rustic version but the color didn’t work for us. For daily use with kids I think that would be better. The Corin EA table is also beautiful in the rustic finishes and might be easier to get chairs around with young ones. The thick pedestal on this table makes chair placement challenging sometimes. Canadel also makes a beautiful and durable product if you haven’t looked at their options! Good luck in your search....See Moredining room update
Comments (7)Affordable if no painting or changing chairs...I don't think current rug much flatters the room. Posting this cause of chair shape. •Height: 10-5/8" •Width: 24-1/4" / metal and crystal drum shade / dazzling K9 crystals are the focal point of this piece •Can be installed on sloped ceilings •Requires (4) 60 watt max candelabra (E12) bulbs https://www.houzz.com/products/park-harbor-phpl6244-cypress-point-4-light-24-1-4w-chandelier-silver-prvw-vr~146192588...See MoreDining Room Update
Comments (13)I would keep the china cabinet, all the more so if it's used. It's lovely! Everything in this room is lovely. My "update" ideas would be simple: find a gorgeous wallpaper for the back of the display shelves (this can be installed in non-permanent ways) and a coordinating fabric for the chairs seats. The large art is gorgeous but I'd try something different on that wall a bit. Perhaps you can switch it with a piece from another room? Sometimes, a change in decor is all our eye needs for an update. But that's my take on your dining room. :) ETA: Fabric can also be used for the back of the cabinet. It doesn't need to be wallpaper. :) I think I mentioned wallpaper because I'd just read a wallpaper thread....See MoreNavy dining room update
Comments (11)The blue is a really nice color and looks especially good with your white cabinets. I'm wondering about what you might do on the white fireplace, though. It's a great concept but with the dark TV and fireplace, it seems a little too stark in white. Maybe think about facing it with tile or stacked stone someday? Or paint it a darker color. Not sure if the green would be right..maybe on the top and tile under the mantel? Maybe others will have suggestions. I also think a new light fixture would be a great addition to the DR. Can you survive without the fan in there or is it necessary in your climate?...See Moreylegrice
