jenn air oiled bronze kitchen appliances for my tuscan kitchen?
Comments (7)I kept hearing, more than 5 years ago, that the next new "Trend" or whatever you would like to call it, would be "Copper Appliances"--it looks likethey are getting closer with the "Oiled Bronze" now. We would have gone with copper appliances for the ones that aren't panelled (DW & Fridge) had they been available, not cause they "Might have been the coming trend" but we just like copper. All our Switch plates are copper, as is our faucett and the light above the sink---Anyway,We will be anxious to see them. I don't know if you saw the thread about the "Floating Glass Jenn-air Appliances, and the problems the user was having, I suspect Your's are Jenn-air's Latest? Couple ways to protect yourself here. First buy from a dealer you know and Trust, and try to get a committment that "They Will Stand Behind Them"--Maybe they offer Service Contracts?---If not, See if you can get one Directly from Jenn-air, I don't , like some others here, recommend Service Contracts, but after seeing that thread, and a few other complaints about their appliances(Excluding Their Fridges which still seem to get positive Reviews)It might save you some Hassles later??? We do have the 48" Built in Jenn-air Fridge, & Love it, Trouble Free for over 4 years now, but that was before Jenn-air was bought by Maytag--which was subsequently bought by Whirlpool. I would also do some Googling for the Model Numbers you are interested in, see what kind of luck other folks have had. Good Luck with your new choices!! Gary...See MoreUpdating garish tuscan style. Comments (86)First of all, love the windows! I agree that everything is a bit too overdone, too brown, and too faux-distressed. But I see good bones! I like the fireplace and the rich wood trim/cabinets and stone floors. For me, the first thing to go would be those drapes and the drapery rods. From there I'd say the place needs some color. That much brown would make me depressed. I'd look at repainting something less brown/beige. I'd either replace the sofa or maybe see if the fringe could be removed. Call me crazy, but I don't mind the "wagon wheel" and rather of like the ceiling beams throughout. I think the problem is that the lighting is too "heavy" and intricate. I'd look to replace the lighting with something more sleek, but maybe still in the iron finish. I like a lot of the iron light fixtures from Restoration Hardware. They're not quite so heavy. I love the suggestions for sort of a "beachy" look with linens, whites, etc. I think color would be great, but some soft, light furniture would also help lighten up the place. Depending on budget, your new home looks like a really fun decorating project!...See MoreHELP us update and De-Tuscanize
Comments (27)"The paint colors are driving us crazy. The pale oak (on the lower left) appears so much more blue than any photo Ive ever seen online." I lived with Pale Oak for about seven years and really liked it . . . but, yes, there were times that it turned a blueish violet in my west facing room living room. In the east facing dining room, it read exactly like I wanted it to - a warm off white greige. So, it could be your exposure that's turning it for you. As others have mentioned I think it's good to choose the counters first, then paint. I am concerned with how your travertine floor will interact with counter tops you're considering. Travertine has a tendancy to nod towards pink. So be sure you take that into consideration in selecting your counter tops. Here are a couple of kitchens with travertine floors and white cabinetry. Take not of the counter tops....See More2001 Kitchen Update
Comments (30)It seems no one heard your finish has rubbed off so you NEED to update a bit here and there. How are you on DIY? Back in the day I took all my doors off, sanded them lightly, applied a coat of stain followed by coats of new poly. That was the refresher they needed. Not sure if you can remove the doors/drawer fronts and have them resprayed..DIY be sure you clean them well first. Since your 'professional' finish didn't hold up I would be hesitant to think a DIY would!! It's interesting and HONEST to hear it did not. Be glad you didn't go black or navy--imagine how horrid that would look!! Your hardware blends so well now. Do you want the look of "Hey they have bronze hardware" screaming at people when they see your kitchen? Some people do. Something to think about. Your version of a tuscan kitchen reads more like a very formal kitchen. Removing the bling will make it more casual. Is that where you want to go? Only you can answer that. As said over and over, it's a very beautiful space. I would tread slowly so as not to kill that!!...See MoreMinnie ramirez
