Anyone happy with Cove dishwashwer?

We are in the process of finalizing our appliance selections. For dishwasher, we were leaning toward Cove, but then I read a number of poor reviews here on Houzz; mainly that dishes were not coming out clean.

I don't know how much merit to put into these reviews because clean dishes really depend on prewash, detergents, water type, etc.

Any Cove owners happy with their purchase??

If not, what do you recommend?

Cove comes with a 5 yr warranty. It could be 6 yrs if installed by authorized factory installer. I am comparing it to Bosch and Asko my most recent dishwasher experience. In my opinion the Cove is superior. It looks and feels like a quality machine. The rack/tines adjustments are

numerous. The racks and tines are sturdy and better than Bosch or Asko.

I purchased the Cove with a built in Water softener as we have VERY hard water. It cleans well.

I use Cascade powder detergent as it allows me to use the appropriate dose instead of pods.

I don't prerinse my dishes. At times they will sit in the dishwasher for a day or two until it's full.

I generally use the quick wash and everything comes out clean.

I use very little plastic ware but what I do seems to be dry.

I like the light on the floor which tells me it's running or finished.

It is so quiet you cannot hear it.

In my kitchen the dishwasher is the hardest working machine. I don't mind paying more for something that will last.

SZ is an American Company which made an American dishwasher which works better for me/my dishes than a European which tend to have odd spacing. Their phone lines are staffed with real people who answer the phone without the endless wait times. If you want to email them they also reply. I hope this helps in your decision making process.

Crickets = so quiet from lack of response that you can hear the crickets chirping in the distance.

I'm interested in Cove owners' experiences too. I have a 16 yr old Miele that has been trouble free, but it's nearing the end of its life cycle. Would love to get another dw as durable (which may not be possible anymore), but I don't believe that will be Miele as it looks like their quality may have declined. Still researching at this point.

You are very welcome. Your little boy is adorable. I know you have plenty to keep you busy for the next few days probably, lol. You are welcome to come back and get some more things when you get those in the ground. If you need help rooting any of the cuttings just let me know. Thank you for helping me make room in my bed for new stuff and weeding and transplanting the gardenia. It was a huge help to me. Sorry I had to rush off to work.

I am sorry to post this late. I joined as a member because a customer has the same concern, and directed me to this post. As stated in earlier posts, Rosemary is part of the Private Collection of Corian products. This series is primarily defined by the directional patterns, or "movement", as it is known in the trade. When fabricating with this material and there are no end walls, there is usually no problem. The right-left pattern flow on the deck continues as a left-right pattern in the backsplash. However, when you have end walls, and desire end splashes, you are faced with a dilemma (just like you would have with natural stone tops, or wood grain tops, or similar). You can either match the grain of the splashes- where the side splashes would run front to back, flowing naturally into the right to left flow of the backsplash, or you can match the deck, wherein the end splashes are "waterfall" on the ends, flowing top to bottom, but forcing a direction change at the splash, where top to bottom end splashes meet right to left backsplash. Having a coved splash does not change the dilemma, but it adds a few other elements. The coved inlay amplifies any visual difference. Your eyes become more 'picky" about any deviations in look, because it is so much more smooth a transition. This is why a coved splash in a Private Collection top is something of a dilemma. And yes, you absolutely should have been made aware of this.

We bought Subzero, refrigerator and freezer, a large Wolf gas range and we got pushed into buying a Cove dishwasher. What a mistake. After 32 days, the dishwasher failed simply saying call service. We are in West Los Angeles, and there is only one company that does warranty work on Cove dishwashers, Box Appliance Repair. We waited two weeks for the first appointment and were told that we needed a new wash pump and it would take a week or two to get it and then they could schedule a follow up appointment. We pressured Cove and they expedited getting the pump so we only had to wait an additional 2 1/2 weeks. Today the technician replaced the wash palm and found that we also bad electronics. He replaced two circuit boards and found that a mechanical relay was also defective. We are now being told that once they get the mechanical relay they will schedule an appointment, probably two weeks away. So, all told we got 32 washes in before multiple parts failed. I told a friend of mine that I bought a Cove and he just started laughing. We have calls and emails into Cove now asking them to replace the dishwasher or give us our money back. I will post the outcome once this dishwashing nightmare is over.

Wolf is new to this game, whereas brands such as Miele or Bosch have been building overengineered dishwashers even before I was born. Give them another generation of products or two, and I am sure Wolf is going to work out all the kinks in the Cove. But personally I feel this is not a product where it pays off to be an early adopter. Some of the horribly bad reviews on Houzz definitely bear this out. Building a dishwasher isn't difficult, as proven by the availability of basic sub-$500 models. Building a great dishwasher though does take a surprising amount of attention to detail, institutional knowledge, and many product iterations. And quite frequently, even with the good dishwashers, differences in households (water chemistry, choice of detergent, type of dishes, mix of contamination, ...) can mean that the same dishwasher works fine for one group of people and fails spectacularly for another group. A good design minimizes the size of this second group. For the price that Wolf charges for the Cove, you want to make sure that it isn't just OK; it has to be great.

How long have you had the cove? It's hard for me to get over the terrible reviews and the recent recall of cove dishwashers that can burst into flames. It's hard to imagine that subzero has produced such a low quality appliance. I've owned Miele in my own house, put Miele in my rental, and have a Viking in my main house. No issues. None of them have caught fire either.

It was installed March of this year. A tech came out after it was registered he checked the serial numbers I think and verified this one was not a problem.

I don't consider it low quality. If you read my post it's quite the opposite.

I've never had a Miele dishwasher but did have a Miele $2400 espresso machine that malfunctioned 2 weeks after the one year warranty was up. The grief of working with tech support and their ridiculous charges many of them up in the air without any idea of what

the final cost was going to be or how how long they were going to keep it. I vowed not to buy any Miele product, again.

With that statement I would ask why don't you buy a Miele or a Viking since you have been so happy with both brands and they served you well.. Why are you looking at Cove and grumbling about their poor quality. What is your point.?

Because I've settled on subzero and wolf for my kitchen remodel next year. I'd like to consider a cove to have them all match. It is a fact that many people on the forum have shared their many problems with cove. Sorry if that somehow bothers you to acknowledge. But a quick search shows how prevalent the quality issues are with cove. It's actually embarrassing that subzero would put out a new product with these issues. And yes, if I can't be convinced that cove's quality issues are behind then I'm going to buy a Miele. Never had any issues with any Miele product.

There was another thread same subject where a number of people were very happy with Cove and they have had them longer. You might look and read their point of view.

You know Alex, this forum is very much against matching all appliances. If that's your only reason just get a Miele. Your comfortable with that. If you select stainless for a finish, it will be fine.

I have a Blue Star Range top because I don't care for Wolf cooking equipment. My cast iron Blue star range top with a stainless front looks just fine with SZ stainless.

I have SZ fridge because I think they make the best refrigeration products. In our previous house

the SZ was still working when we sold the house 22 yrs later.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I fine the Yale Appliance reviews extremely helpful. There is one out there that compares the Cove to the Bosch 800 series, and they recommend the Bosch 800 over Cove. For what it's worth to those in this thread, that is the route we ended up taking....

I like those Yale Appliance reviews too, but Steve Scheinkopf is first & foremost a salesman. Notice he promotes Beko products very effectively too, though they have no U.S. track record to speak of, and we have no idea of their reliability. As enjoyable as Steve's "reviews" are, I'd still take them with a grain of salt & corroborate elsewhere.
