Root-prune chamaerops humilis?

Hi everyone,
I have a young C. Humilis in a pot that has become way too small, 18 litres.
I've just bought a bigger pot for him (45litres) and am looking to repot him this week as I see he is starting to push up out of the pot.
Should I root-prune? I am tempted to do this during the repotting process, but I keep reading that C. Humilis' roots are sensitive and don't deal well with transplanting to begin with, so I am unsure if this is a good idea or not.
Can anyone with experience in growing these comment?
I'm in zone 11, if that makes any difference.
