Digging up bulbs this time of year
Comments (1)You won't kill them put them in some peat & keep them dry in a cool spot if possible.Good luck hope your new place will have a place for plants & veggies T.C.Elaine...See MoreBulbs that come up every year, forever?
Comments (6)Some of the bulbs that grow the best for me: Alliums christophii, sphaerocephalon, unifolium, giganteum Anemone Blanda 'White Splendour' Chionodoxa forbessii Crocus, Large flowering (but squirrels love them) Fritillaria meleagris Hyacinths Ipheion 'Wisley Blue' & Rolf Fieldler' Iris reticulata 'Harmony' & 'Pixie' (Iris danfordiae very poor return) Lilium Asiatic Hybrids, La Hybrids, Trumpets, & Orienpets, Lilium 'Regale' & Lilium 'Black Beauty' (other Orientals are just so so for me) Muscari armeniacum (Grape Hyacinths) Narcissus, including miniatures Scilla siberica 'Spring Beauty' ('Alba' was almost weedy for me it grew so fast) I included the specific variety only where it seemed to really matter - one variety returned better, spread faster, better color etc. Others were decidedly less successful. Most of these are inexpensive and you can experiment as much as you want and find those that suit your garden and taste the best. Included a good quality source for bulbs in the link below. Comments (6)They will survive and flower in spring. It will surely cool down soon and then they will stop growing. Anything above ground now will look pretty bad by the spring but the plants will continue to grow. Anything that gets really ahead of itself and pushes out a bud will get blasted when the cold hits, then probably not flower in spring....See MoreAnyone else's hibiscus realllly late coming up this year?
Comments (17)Do deer eat hibiscus plants? In: Flower Gardening Answer Yes deer eat everything. You might try rosemary, lantanna some sages. Deer typically do not like some of the stronger smelling plants. Herbs and traditional natural plants tend to make them move on to other people's tender plants. I hope this helps.
