LED lights and ceiling fixture questions for small kitchen
Comments (16)Lynn, I suggest you try both the Cree LR6 and the Cree CR6. We tried both in our house and pulled out the LR6s and replaced them with the CR6 lights. The CR6 lights are actually less expensive than the LR6 lights but they dim much lower than the LR6 lights. The specs don't show a big difference in dimming but I can tell you the difference is very substantial. Also, the LR6 lights are more sensitive to the type of dimmers used, and we tried a number of different dimmers from the list recommended by Cree before finding ones that were satisfactory. The Home Depot Cree lights are rebadged CR6s, but they may have changed some of the components because the lifetime is 30,000 hours (I think) instead of the 50,000 hours with CR6 lights from Cree. Comments (7)I would use the surface mounted recessed cans. For $300, you can get 5 of Lotus LED lighting. I have one of the Commercial Electric from home depot and they run about $40, I did not like color rending on these. Another option is surfaced mounted fixtures that are very slim so that you don't have to worry about adding a recessed housing fixture in the ceiling. Also budget for LED fixture compatible dimmer switches. Good luck!...See MoreHelp with light fixtures for a small kitchen-Please!
Comments (5)Thanks, I like the look of a "schoolhouse" fixture, especially the ones with stripes! but the electrics for the main light fixture aren't centred where the table will go which is slightly off to one side. The kitchen layout is pretty awkward with 4 doors. The light is exactly in the centre of the room and right between the opening of the fridge and oven I think if the light is too low it might feel too low for someone taller, I'm also considered that maybe if the fixture is too low maybe the room will be darker. but I don't know if that's true?...See MoreSuggestion needed on this small kitchen lighting plan.
