Progress...Office painted - my desk area set up
Comments (17)WOW someone thought of me and a blog?! I'm quite flattered! It would be lovely to be able to do that but computers and I really do not get along on most levels. At least mine at home. Red - don't you think that massive picture would be just awesome behind my desk!!!!!!!!! It'd be almost like my own window on Paris! Over the wknd I got some more pics hung up in the office and I have to say I am really, really loving it. I know that that having so many pictures covering almost every sq. inch of wall space and horizontal surface is a realtors nightmare and most people would probably say - nope that's too much or what is she thinking, but I just love it! Every picture has a story behind it (even if I don't know who the person is or I haven't been to that place yet). My walls are like a visual library for me and I can't wait until the tiniest detail is done to show you all! This wknd I hope to get my floating shelves up on the wall beside my desk. I'm going to try and find my old mason jars and load them up w/ my pencils and other desk stuff as well as give DS1 a place to keep his collections of rocks and marbles out of reach of the younger ones. Yesterday afternoon I laid down on my kids car map rug in the office while the baby played(I was so tired). I looked around and it was soooooo peaceful and warm and family like....See MoreWhere to look for desks and office
Comments (9)This may not apply, so feel free to disregard, but if there was any interest in a used set up, there are companies who collect and resale this type of stuff. I am in NE and we have a local ish liquidator and they have a giant warehouse of tons of office chairs, desks, furniture from places like banks, restaurants, etc. it is both impressive to see and a great selection. Giant aisle of dining tables and hutches, restaurant equipment, etc....See MoreMidcentury Modern Design Office Design - Advice Appreciated
Comments (3)It wouldnt clash at all as long as you don't put them right next to eachother in the room. Mixing metals/wood tones is very "in" right now. All of your other elements you mentioned will balance it out....See MoreAdvice/ideas for upstairs loft/office space!
Comments (36)II like the desk entirely hidden behind that wall, but this is better for Zoom calls. You need to be facing a window for the natural light to be on your face. You can use a ring light on cloudy/rainy days but if it is sunny, use the natural light. That also leaves the wall to your left for a new office storage piece like a credenza or file cabinet. If the glare from those windows bothers you when working, get some custom bamboo shades at Lowe's in a shade that picks up the caramel color in the rug. A new ceiling lamp and a brass floor lamp for the corner by the sofa will look great.Move the round brass table to the entry side of the sofa for a bit of bling to be seen as one comes into the space. Also add a lamp to your desk. Try not to use the ceiling light, for a warm and cozy feeling. Ceiling lights are great for seeing how to clean the space, but they do not enhance the ambiance unless they are interesting to look at. And speaking of visual interest, the map isn't that. If you need it for your work tasks, move it close to the desk. I would be something fun and colorful to hang 5" above the sofa. Don't forget a trash basked if you don't have a shredder....See MoreHU-283081375
