I think what you really need to do is commit to one look: Do you want modern? Do you want middle-of-the-road? How safe do you want to be? It's all about your personality. If it were my bathroom (and since you asked for opinions), I'd skip safe and white for go for drama. That's really what I think the room needs. And you've already started it with the gray floor, the modern-looking vanity and the modern glass sink. I'd get a vanity top that's black granite or laminate (with next to no design) or even maybe black marble (there's a way to pull in the gray and a little white or cream). If it can be painted, I'd paint the vanity a semi-glossy black and get shiny fixtures with a little bit of curve to them to go with the modern sink. Gray toilet would be ideal. The shower tile could be glazed either black, or if that's too much black for you, a really, really creamy ivory, or even the same gray as the tub. If there are walls, I'd paint them black (hey, it's a neutral and modern looking and potentially very glam!). Either that, or a cranberry-ruby red (and don't forget the ceiling -- I personally like using the same shade or a little lighter). A deep purple (or possibly an eggplant) would look pretty, too. Or maybe a nice, simple, paper that blends into the background while also having some interest to it. Art would really be cool in there, too, I think. Not black-and-white photos, but something unique with a lot of color and personality (the wall and accent colors could come from there). And for fun and kicks, maybe a little piece of sculpture on a glass shelf or the side of the vanity -- white or faux marble, classical or modern, or artful glass. Then I'd throw down a black rug, stick in a simple shower curtain that won't compete with anything (so the sink and the art can shine), hang some towels in your accent color (gray, black, ruby, purple -- they'd all be interchangable and easily rotated), and call it a day.

Our MBath is 21' x 8'. I believe the cabinet is 12' long. The center section comes out and has a cabinet sitting on top. We do not have a linen closet in the room - extra towels go in bottom drawer (bottom two are very deep) and any extra/all daily used items go in top drawer and the cabinet. I didn't want sconces - we used three cans in this area, plus a small three light chandelier in entry "hallway" from MBR thru bathroom to closet. I had the cabinet installer cut the bases off all bathroom cabinets and ordered feet. He ordered extra paint and glaze to finish the feet on site. I had the mirrors made to my specs at a local framing shop.

I would suggest going with neutrals with beige/taupe/white with anything that is hard to change. Maybe switch the a A new counter top with neutral Formica and a white sink. You would be surprised as to how inexpensive Formica is. But of course then there is a new sink, faucet and a bit of plumbing work.Go to a home improvement store and ask them lots of questions A friend put in bead boards and painted a soft white in bathroom, I think it looks nice. But they are usually glued and nailed so if you ever get tired of it it would mess up the drywall underneath. I've seen wallpaper that looks like beadboard. But I hate wallpaper myself. You could just do a chair rail and paint the above and below in different colors. As for you light, you probably have one of those that is kind of built into the medicine cabinet and have the round bulbs, I am not sure what to suggest, but they are usually separate from the cabinet. Maybe the home improvement stores have a suggestion. I wanted more storage in my bathroom but didn't want to install medicine cabinet, I have a large plain mirror over sink. Plus wanted deeper storage. I found a white stained kitchen cabinet and installed over toilet. It was a discontinued item so got it cheap. It took some getting used to, afraid it would be too big and bulky, but being whiteish made it not seem so. I had been watching for something for at least a year.

I don't think you will hit your elbows in a 3'6" x 3'6" shower but a shower curtain will work just fine. If you think that adding a glass down the road is a possibility, I would talk to the contractor about the extra cost involved to add a glass later as opposed to now. I see no problem with the curtain but it would allow you to take an informed decision. A curtain is also less maintenance as it is very easy to put it in the washer. Yes this shower is beautiful and the color scheme makes it looks spacious. This is something I mentioned earlier, I encourage you to put the drain in the shower in a location where you don't stand when you shower. It is more comfortable to the feet. In this picture, they put the drain far on the opposite side. They also put the faucet where it is really easy to turn on before entering the shower so you can set the water temperature before you get wet.
