Just wanted to post a little update! We have had the entryway fixed! We used Matt Nelson with Nelson Builders and my husband worked alongside Matt. We decided to bump the entire entry out 3 1/2 feet. We saved a lot of money having my husband do a lot of the work and it ended up not being too expensive. It has made a HUGE difference! Even from the front of the house, you can actually see the front door now (before it went way in). Our original builder never got back with me (Miller Construction) and actually when I wrote a review of our experience with them, he threatened me with a lawyer, said he was asking Houzz to remove the review, and when they wouldn't, he deleted his entire Houzz profile and put up a new one. For the record, my review (2 stars) was actually fair and there was nothing derogatory or offensive. It just wasn't a super positive experience. But, thankfully we got the entry fixed and it looks great now :) Pics are attached (we will be adding a coat rack above the bench!)

My dad did put cement board behind the tile before they laid it You hired a hack, this was your first warning flag. Never do I tile any substrate I didnt install myself. Not even for GC's Most all tile pro's will insist on taking everything from the studs or they will pass on the project. When you find handymen that are willing to engage in partial projects be warned. They will also likely come in at a very attractive pricepoint. A properly prepped waterproof tiled tub surround and subway install such as you have should be starting around $35/sq plus actual tile cost. How did you find the handyman and what did you pay? what does your contract say about industry standards to be followed?

It appears the pitch was flattened from the original plan? This makes the serrated gables look off and results in a very challenging standing seam detail. The panel rib spacing won't line up with the awkward valleys that come to points at the eave. Yes bad workmanship but design seems to deserve much of the blame. Other than sticking to original roof plan or improving dormer design I think the move would have been perfecting the valley intersections first and accepting less than ideal panel rib alignment.

The bubble loook are raised grains. Normal with water base systems. It will smooth out when they buff it. Regarding mixing Loba and Bona, no sales rep will recommend mixing the two brands. They do not want the responsibility of any finishing issues that can be caused by the other brand. I know, that Loba recommends adding a whitener additive to their product and Bona recommends Mixol. Perhaps your contractor made the decision to sub the Traffic HD with a Loba finish and whitener additive on his/her own. I doubt a sales rep will recommend another product over their own or mixing the two products/brand. Their ingredients are different. At least no sales rep in my area will. Aside from that, Loba finishes will work over Bona sealers. You just won't recieve any tech supprot when issues occur. I see a breach in the contract. It is up to you to accept the job or not. You hold the final payment. Find out which finish they sub the Traffic HD with. It should be Loba Supra AT. Which is equal value to Traffic HD. That I would accept. You can always contact your local rep to verify information.
