Paralyzed by fear
Comments (24)Great question, and even better advice! annie~I'm another one who is filing that rationale away to use later if needed, h*** who am I kidding?, when needed. I think you hit the nail on the head, I've been too much of a perfectionist to do anything, which can be debilitating. So I have resolved this year to "just do it" as renofan would! You will be happy to know that I tore out the LR carpet, it was stained, ugly blue-green low pile!! My hardwood floors look like h***, they have paint and stain smeared all over them, and cement where they laid the tile in the front porch and didn't wipe it off the threshold. I know that part needs to be replaced altogether, the rest can be sanded and stained to their former glory! But now we can see how bad the FR is, and that has to be done next. Oh, and I have to repaint the walls and trim first. So don't think you are alone. We can do this together, one step at a time!! :) Even if it means you're taking two steps forward, and one step back, that still counts....See MoreFriend with a problem.........
Comments (9)Hi again everyone, I think the problem that's depressing her so, is that he doesn't really take part in many of the responsibilities of being a homeowner. He helps her with the dishes, laundry, and running the kids around, but he doesn't know how to care for the furnace, watersoftener, lawn equipment, cars, etc. He doesn't even know how or who to call. He never takes any initiative or responsibility for any improvements or even plain maintenance of things. Sure, it's great that he helps with dishes, but he's totally uninvolved in all those things you think a man should be in charge of, or at least help with. She loves her flower garden in the back yard, for example, but the rabbits keep eating them. He keeps promising her a fence, but never does it. She has had to build all the shelves and storage in her house, be in charge of any changes and repairs that are ever made. Her husband works hard at his job, but has no interests or motivations for anything in the home. She has tried talking with him, but he gets angry and blows up. I think, unfortunately, it's one of those "irreconcilable differences" relationships. She's an interesting, bright, funny, perceptive person, who enjoys all sorts of things, but has become limited because of her fibromyalgia. Her husband is content to work too much and come home and have no motivation or personality left. I feel really badly for her. I guess I just need to encourage her to do things that bring her pleasure and comfort and listen to her. But it's sad, that she feels so trapped in this relationship. Thanks again for your suggestions....See MoreSudden paralysis of rear legs in Chihuahua
Comments (7)A similar thing happened to our pug a few months ago. She was fine in the morning and within a few hours she was completely paralyzed in the back end with some problems with her right front leg. Took her to a neurologist who guessed that the problem was in her neck. Could have been a small blowout or could have been something major. Went back to our regular vet who put her on a muscle relaxer and strong steroids. We also started K-laser treatments on her neck. Within a week she was back up, a little, and was able to piddle by herself. Very slowly she improved and to this day we still do the laser treatments once a month. She's not 100% back to her old self but, she's able to walk. Mind you, it was VERY rough those first few days. Had to hold her while she did her business, set up a padded penned area to keep her safe, held her water bowl and hand fed her, carried her from room to room so she was always in our sight. Today we have carpet runners throughout the house since we have tiled floors. I use carpet runners or small rugs to make paths for her to travel the house. I have objects that I use as steps so she doesn't jump up or down from anything. Most times we lift her up and down. She did have one small set back during this time. We immediately took her back in and did another dose of steroids. If I notice any change with her walking we bring her in for another laser treatment (cost is $22 a session). Don't give up on your baby. A small, and cheaper alternative could be just some medications and the k-laser treatments (google it and see what this is)...See Moreanother curtain conundrum
Comments (5)I would do like the inspiration picture and hang the roman shades up by the ceiling, just below the crown. Those will mount to the wall. Then you can get the traverse rod that will be in front of the roman shade. You will most likely want to mount that to the end walls. I'd suggest that, even if you don't buy the drapes now, that you buy or at least decide on all the drapery hardware so you can engineer the project properly the first time....See MoreTheresa Janssen
