When we bought our current house, it was shown floor-standing washer and dryer in an alcove by the back door to the back deck. PO took her appliances with her. The alcove was big enough for just 2 items. But there was no utility sink anywhere in the house. Obvious solution--a stacked w & d would give me space to have a sink installed. I LOVE the stacked unit. I'm 5'6" and don't find the washer too low, or the dryer too high. And the fact that in my case they're convenient to the line I have strung on the deck is a huge plus. Having moved from a house where the laundryroom was in the basement, and the bedrooms on the second floor, I discovered something. I LOVE doing laundry--what I hated about it in the other house was the constant lugging loads up and down several flights of stairs. If a stacked pair works for you, it can be a real space saver. I have a suggestion--if you have a friend with a stacked set, why not ask if you could come over and do a couple of loads, just to get the feel of it. And DO make sure you get all the specs before committing to buying the set. You have to have the right outlets in the right places--and if needed, it's better to have the electrical work done before the set's delivered (they didn't tell me the dryer only came with a 4' cord when I bought--so my poor electrician had to work around the already delivered washer and dryer to move the outlet up about 6 feet from where it had been previously.

My older stacked washer/dryer combo from Kenmore (rebranded Whirlpool) is just the opposite. I'm assuming your picture has the front of your combo on the left. My dryer is offset toward the rear of the washer by an inch or so. Looking at your picture.... the only thing I can think of is that the rear clips connecting the dryer to the washer are reversed and upside down. You'd have to get the installation instructions for your particular model. Good Luck.... Gusman

Usually repair guys have what is called an airsled if you tell them ahead of time what the situation is In our recent remodel I asked that our stackable washer and dryer be placed on rollers to make it easier to get them in and out for service etc as the space is very tight. I did not realize that the vibration of the machines would make the washer and dryer move forward, causing the magnetic dryer vent to disconnect on occasion and the washer/dryer to make it harder to open the door to our backyard.

@qwert if they're built to stack, there are generally instructions on how to connect them, but the brands we're looking at do more or less sit directly on top of each other, with small connecting kits. If you look at the LG website they should have a manual for your model that will include stacking instructions. I asked about service and our local store said they just ask ahead of service calls if the units are stacked or not, and if they are, then the person who comes out is equipped to take the dryer down if needed, but that the units are designed so that any routine service doesn't require moving them and it's unusual to have to unstack them. (We are looking at ductless electric dryers, so that may make a difference, but even for our existing gas dryer, I have only ever cleaned the duct out from the outside, and have never had to move or get behind the machine.) In 15 years I can't think of any maintenance we've done on our current machines that would have required unstacking them, had they been stacked.
