Off-White Cabinet Color with SW Pure White walls

Our walls are currently being painted SW Pure White and we are struggling to choose a cabinet color that will go with it. There is also now white subway tile as a backsplash to the ceiling. I am interested in a contrast of sorts but am worried any cream may look too yellow with our old hardwood pine. The kitchen floors are slate stone (grey with hints of brown/green/blue) and the countertops also have undertones of dark green/blue/black in them. The room is a west facing if that is helpful information.

Taupe and Sage green are popular choices these days. Also you could look at deeper Beiges versus Creams/Yellow.

are you painting those cabinets or getting new ones? Painting?

why is the backsplash being done before the cabs? now you're stuck w/the bright white (which I don't think was the best match w/that countertop. )

I would have done white cabinets and Kendall Charcoal on your walls. The floor and tile would have popped w/that wall color. (you still can redo the walls with it. I think it will look better than a bright white. Kendall or Chelsea are warmer grays that would look beautiful w/your wood, the floors and the white. get a sample and just try it on one wall. (you're taking that tile up to the ceiling, yes?)

Please, no boob light! gave you a nice flush mount.

Who is painting the cabinets?

Honestly? I'd keep the cabs as is and get a new countertop (and a diff ceiling light!)

You'll spend at least 5K getting those painted (please use a pro cabinet painter and not the house painter guy! ) so take that money and get a lighter counterotop.

You could find cheaper replacements if you went w/a pre-fab countertop. they come in quartz, granite, whatever. find a soft, grayish/white quartz, or a creamier white/w/a soft gray undertone.

You plan on keeping these floors for a long time? No need picking colors that work w/that floor if you plan on changing it in the next year or so.

But, if not possible, pull a light silver gray from the floor and those counters and use that shade. or do a grayish white. lets see the countertop close up

Try a sample of these and see how they look w/the other two elements

We were going with SW Extra white but after seeing some pictures and comments, some people said it is TOO bright white For a multitude of reasons, I wouldn't let comments and pictures online inform your opinion about Extra White. Again, we want to undertones. Paint colors don't have undertones, so you're in luck. Would Pure white work better? Based on what you've said, I doubt it. But I don't care for Pure White. I think there are prettier whites (personal opinion). All paint colors are defined and described by hue, value and chroma. The majority of white paint colors available in commercial paint brands belong to the yellow hue family, green-yellow hue family or green hue family. The reason is because there's a whole bunch of human visual perception stuff with regard to this region of the spectrum. Long story short, we end up perceiving near neutrals like grays and whites from this spectral, hue family range as being the most neutral as in not having amounts of discernible hue. Extra White and Pure White belong to the same hue family neighborhood. Pure White is at the end of the Yellow Hue Family, Extra White is at the beginning of the Green-Yellow hue family - again, same neighborhood on the color wheel. When it comes to brightness - and brightness is a description of how lightness (value) looks - they're basically the same. The biggest different between EW and PW is CHROMA. Chroma tells you how colorful or neutral a color looks. Pure White has more chroma. 0.44. Which means it's not as white as Extra White which has a chroma of 0.32. Extra White is a whiter, cleaner color than Pure White. (remember swatches you see online can not mimic in real life colors so whatever you think you see in swatches online you should ignore and go get physical chips)

Hi! Yes, I think Bona high traffic. Or maybe that was the sealer they used. I think they used Dura Seal. Just found this sample sheet in my kitchen draw. We used the middle sample. QC 11 Hope this helps! We put a matte finish on the floors. Very little shine to it. It’s great but note that if you go that route. You can’t really scoot things that would scratch across the wood. It removes the matte and you will see a sheen streak in the right lighting or angle. Just a heads up if you go that route. Not too big of a deal, if you know in advance. We pic up and slide anything a tad heavy. Pads for bar stools etc.. Best of luck! Lmk if you have any more questions 😊

We used BM Chantilly Lace with Taj Mahal in our kitchen. I tested all the whites and have large windows that face north in sunny FL. The Chantilly Lace was the sample that stayed white and bright in my space, while the other whites didn't. Used the same Chantilly Lace on all my trim, doors and ceilings. The walls are now BM White Dove, which is a warmer white and goes well with my furnishings, art, wood floors and stained beams. You will be fine! If you find things too white once you move in, all you have to do is repaint the walls in some of the rooms. I had picked a darker color to begin with, done by the builder, and have done my own repainting with the White Dove ... I'm not young anymore and my walls are 10 - 12 ft high, so unless you have a physical disability, it can be done DIY by the average person.

Wood cabinetry is a classic that is very much en vogue these days. All types of wood are trending. And your current cabinets are very nice. So personally, my approach would also be going lighter on the walls, and then just step back and take a look. That might be it.

I really like your current floor -

but if I personally considered any changes at all, I might do another porcelain tile or LVP or sheet linoleum - and I like the idea of some type of a Terrazzo look for your space. My visual below is very rough - not to mention a really sloppy paint job... :)

And I’d also possibly just change out the flush mount - and add under cabinet lighting, if not already there.

So that would be my approach. I think with the lighter wall color alone you may possibly be happier with the current space. So you can wait and see. Other than that, I hope some of this helps. And there are people here who will be able to give you even more ideas, if you decide to go ahead and paint the cabinets.
