Tips to Modernize More Traditional Style Furniture
Comments (22)Trancegemini, yes. You can't even go out that window/door in the living room and there is also basement access inside the house by the crazy stairwell. Mjlb, I can't imagine living 4 years on military furniture. I know some of our potential locations we would HAVE to store most of our household goods. I would only hope those locations have more comfortable furnishings than the things the military provided us here until our things arrived. Think...doctor's office waiting room or something equally uncomfortable. I am thankful, though, the military does provide for us and everyone with something until our own things come. Geogirl, I know. We are so happy to be here and have these opportunities. The antiques here are gorgeous. We have committed ourselves to one big furniture purchase a year here (which is what we did in the US as well), looking for great quality sturdy things preferably antique but open to anything as long as its well-made and can survive many more mili moves. In the meantime, we have to make our space work for us and make it feel like home. That's something we never really did in Texas, make our house a home....See MoreUseful Tips on decorating living room..
Comments (2)Some good basic advice there. But given the unfavorble exchange rate (currently it takes 1.96 dollars to buy one British pound) I don't think many Americans are going to be shopping on UK websites!...See MoreDoes oak butch/block trestle table go with mid cent modern chairs
Comments (4)That is a decision only you can make based on your needs, your tolerance of the chairs and table together, and how you will feel about it after you have it in place and if you can send them back if you do not like them. I hate to try to tell people how to spend their money. That would not be a look I would like but some people do. However, I think that is a decision you will need to make. For me it would be a big decision because I tried to buy furniture that would last me for years and instead of buying a $25 chair I would save for the $250 chair if that was what I had my heart set on. Of course, no one knows how anyone else will see things but that is my opinion. Try to buy what you have your heart set on as long as your investment serves you well....See MoreHello! Comments (44)OK, we need some serious tweaking here. Looks like you moved the recliner beyond the foot of the bed. That should work better. The rug looks nice and plush, and is utterly useless where you have it. I suggest you get another exactly like it and put one on each side of the bed to catch your tootsies when you get up. Why two lamps on each nightstand? Were you thinking two small ones would equal one large one? You need a bigger lamp on each side. This is a big BIG room. You cannot do small stuff here. Better to leave blank space than to have bitty stuff. Which brings me to the stuff hanging on the walls... Better a totally blank wall than a small piece hanging in the middle of a vast expanse. The art over the chest will probably work if you lower it a bit. I suggest you gather every framed piece and wall hanging you own and look at creating a galley wall of some kind on the wall with the TV. (You can get very inexpensive digital downloads on etsy.com, and frames from Ikea or Target, and make your own gallery wall.)...See MoreOlychick
