In the event that you are looking for a new online vendor (small business), check out Flourish Roses. This is their first year selling online so they are still working through a few things (finding discounted shipping, creating a warranty, and adding additional trees). I am really encouraged with the size and quality of the root. NOTE, Flourish updated their shipping after this video. 5 roses = $50 flat shipping. HIP HIP HOORAY!

I already saw your video before I saw your post here. Awesome looking bare root! But the shipping is a bit high for me. Hopefully it will come down once they are more established. Thanks 🙂

Hi, just wanted to be sure to thank everyone!!! for their time and thoughtfulness about alternate roses, vendors, etc. Curlydoc thanks very much for the extra effort and for your Hortico pics... If I was an experienced gardener, I'd rush out and get the Hortico, but am thinking that because I am a first-time gardener I really need to make sure I can do a decent job with my 2 tree roses, the 2 Lincolns and the 2 Special Occasion first so indeed 2010 I will be making a full blast to 3! Sutter's Gold roses to add to the collection for next year... Roses Unlimited says that indeed they can hold the order and since I have heard so many terrific things about them, I will go ahead and wait for the 3. If Special Occasion does indeed flourish I will update everyone on what I think about the fragrance. According to Heirloom rose and a few other American growers it is "one of the most fragrant hybrid teas" but a bit too belatedly I found some U.K. sites that only listed it as moderate so we shall wait and see. It's a Fryer rose...

@Mischievous Magpie (CO 5b) Thank you! Yes it is always so sad when little ones get sick because they can’t even tell you what hurts. My 15 month old just finished antibiotics for an ear infection 3 weeks ago, then got a cold from a family member. Finished that cold a week ago and is now again with bilateral ear infections plus cutting his upper lateral incisors. I hope both of yours get a break also and feel better, I can’t even imagine how much more difficult it would be with two sick children. I do not usually engage in too much criticism or debate online. I do not like judging people since I do not know their motives or challenges, but some times people forget that what is a lovely hobby to us is a business to those people. They may even like roses, but their job is to sell roses to pay for their home, cars, medical insurance and food. They are just trying to make a living like everyone else.

I got my W.S. 2000 from High Country Roses back in 2011. I should had ordered from High Country Roses back in Nov. 2023, it's only $23.95 per own-root Austin. High Country Roses in CO now ships roses to Canada.

Erasmus, I am thinking about Mme Berkeley, zone 7, I was surprized to see zone 7 since I am supposed to buy zone 6. I think I will try it this year anyway, but plant it near home side as it is warmer and w/flowers next to it. I found the extra flower foliage and home side is lots warmer than other parts of my yard. I will use burlap in winter to keep M Berkeley warm. Thanks for the cautionary note. I grew tomatoes, strawberries, and 2 climbers (Eden/Zepherine Drouhin that were only 6 inches tall in that spot over winter and my butterfly bush covered them... keeping warm during winter and in spring Eden had a first bloom on a 12 inch stem. In spring I then transplanted them to larger more permanent spots on house side and they are now 3 ft. The strawberries are still growing green now a Foot of snow melted off of them on this side, best in my yard! . The tomato vine on the side of home came back... I tried transplanting it elsewhere. But didn’t get it all out and it came back again each year-funny. Aren’t they supposed to die! Lol! This side of my home has many roses and they are so robust-stronger than all my other roses so far. I have a rose Tree “Wedding Dress” w/ mini blooms that blooms abundantly-tons, and I don’t protect it for winter at all. Tree roses often die in my cold weather unless you protect the trunks and minis die too-too delicate sometimes. It’s the Magic side of my yard where anythinggrows and flourishes! Soil is really good on that side of home... thick w/ amendments and mulch, too.... I’m going to add more soil amendments to all beds to make it more like that side of home-hoping for better results all around my rose gardens.

@Soozie Q, zone 10b I agree. The shipping is pricey. Hopefully they are able to find a discount through Fedex or UPS in the future.

@bellarosa So glad you got both of those roses. I have Medallion on order also. The bloom is HUGE! Another rose that I have on the site that I enjoy is Earth Angel. Stay in touch and let me know how your roses do from Flourish.

That's great to hear about Medallion. I didn't see any climbers listed. Did you? I'll have to check back. Earth Angel is beautiful!! I'm going to have to pot them up for now. It's 36 degrees F here!

I have monthly meetings through the RG Facebook and we will be having a Gall specialist speak with us in March. His talk on RRD in January was awesome. We will have a another specialist in later talks on Rose Mosaic. I hope you will join us 😊
