Comments (7)Not looking at size (I know this should come down longer and be half the width of the window) and color (I want dark brown but not sure which color) how does this style fit my window? Should I add a little wood trim to the top?...See MoreExterior shutters and front door color pop
Comments (4)I'm glad you are getting a new storm door :) I like that orange on your front door. I would remove the shutters entirely as they don't belong on either the double window or the triple window. Please take a moment to read this brief article on shutters and shutter sizing and proper location for them: https://www.lifeofanarchitect.com/residential-architecture-101-shutters/ Even if they are decorative, they look so much better when they are on the right style windows. Your windows are wide contemporary type style windows that aren't designed for shutters....See Morenon-toxic exterior shutters
Comments (0)We would like to install exterior decorative shutters on our windows. However, I’ve come across articles noting that vinyl shutters emit toxic gasses that causes cancers, neurological issues etc. Wood shutters are safe but they are very expensive. We live in New England so we’d have to use redwood or cedar to withstand the weather. Any suggestions for moderately priced or inexpensive non-toxic exterior shutters?...See MoreExterior shutters
Comments (1)Are you using these shutters for their original intended use or just as a decorative accent? They look like the inexpensive poorly designed shutters sold by big box stores in the wrong size everywhere. Have you read this article below on properly sized/styled shutters in the right location on the right windows? https://www.lifeofanarchitect.com/residential-architecture-101-shutters/ Please post a pic of your house so we can see if shutters are appropriate for your window style and your home's style. Otherwise, you will have spent money to achieve a muddled look. There are homes where the shutters are appropriate and fabulous and add just the right touch. Then there are the shutters that don't belong on inappropriate windows that ruin the homes appeal. See one random example of well done shutters on the appropriate windows below....See Moretozmo1
