Exterior Shutters input please
Comments (1)Yes and no. Will they look as real as wood...not from inside about 10-20'. Do they fade...not as much as you might think. We see them when they are nearly 15 years old and with a tiny bit of wash, they look great....See MoreExterior shutters and front door color pop
Comments (4)I'm glad you are getting a new storm door :) I like that orange on your front door. I would remove the shutters entirely as they don't belong on either the double window or the triple window. Please take a moment to read this brief article on shutters and shutter sizing and proper location for them: https://www.lifeofanarchitect.com/residential-architecture-101-shutters/ Even if they are decorative, they look so much better when they are on the right style windows. Your windows are wide contemporary type style windows that aren't designed for shutters....See MoreExterior shutters
Comments (1)Are you using these shutters for their original intended use or just as a decorative accent? They look like the inexpensive poorly designed shutters sold by big box stores in the wrong size everywhere. Have you read this article below on properly sized/styled shutters in the right location on the right windows? https://www.lifeofanarchitect.com/residential-architecture-101-shutters/ Please post a pic of your house so we can see if shutters are appropriate for your window style and your home's style. Otherwise, you will have spent money to achieve a muddled look. There are homes where the shutters are appropriate and fabulous and add just the right touch. Then there are the shutters that don't belong on inappropriate windows that ruin the homes appeal. See one random example of well done shutters on the appropriate windows below....See MorePaint color, brand and sheen for exterior shutters? Funcolors?
Comments (4)Good lookin' house! I would go for a dark almost black navy blue, same hue family as the body. Because it would be the more edited, simpler choice. Edit and simplify is always a good plan IMO. Never use oil based for anything. It's especially a poor choice for exterior because it doesn't have the same flex and resiliency as water born paints. It's not flexible, doesn't expand and contract with vacillating temps and it cracks. No need for FPE unless you really want to try it. Ben Moore's top tier exterior is more than adequate for shutters....See Moretozmo1
