countertop with cream cabinets kitchen and backsplash advice please!
Comments (31)If you like blue, you might try using a blue gray finish on your island cabinets only? It seems like so many try to attain a finished kitchen that reminds one of the old sienna color photographs. No one really wants to live in shades of brown and gray all over the world. That can be monotonous. I really like the backsplash slocoja shared in her photo. I bit of shiney is really pretty with the silver chrome appliances, but maybe limit it to one or 2 lines thru the center of your backsplash, and than use the choice for your countertops in the backsplash. I think you might enjoy that more long term. Especially since you have so many different heights of window frames, cabinet trim, lines of molded cabinet doors and vertical lines in your windows... Do a couple of lines of your silver, or even a dusty blue or blue gray even if you can find it(goes with any other color you can think of for the next 3 decades, like blue jeans do? LOL) if you like that amongst the backsplash which matches your counter top, and let your island be the color you have planned in your picture if so... That way your eyes won't tire of all the movement in the kitchen, so many angles on your backsplash, the reflection etc.. I would do it at the height that splits your outlets in half, one to 3 lines of horizontal mini tiles. Very pretty!!...See Morebacksplash advice !
Comments (30)I think this could work! (the last two are way too ultra-modern) but these black chairs just seem a tad too black. tying in the black on the window may be better w/a black/gold pendant, or maybe some black/gold stools. for my counter stools I did the Chi stools. and I know these come in black seats. it's a leather or a really good faux leather. comfortable too. Got them here on Houzz if you want something w/a back, they might have something like this in the same style. some other photoshops. (love your floor) and I gave you a hall light and some more modern black pendants. and the stools this one is a gray wicker pendant I think from this angle^, it works w/the flooring and all the gray in the kitchen. I like this pendant too, and I put in the white stools like mine. and one more w/your modern light couldn't find a chair like this w/black fabric, but this gives you an idea of another look...See Morehow bad did contractor mess up the backsplash? advice needed!
Comments (7)Not sure what it was supposed to look like, but it looks lovely to me. Agreed that I might have chosen a different grout color, but I assume (?) that decision was yours or a designer's and not the contractor's. It is hard to cut small tile pieces in general, glass or otherwise, but the only issues I see here have to do with spacing and alignment (and what looks like grout where the tile meets the counter, where it should be caulked), which probably are more about the tile than the cuts....See MoreBacksplash Advice
Comments (6)Your husband will come around. Ignore his 3D request, and those undulating tiles. Your cabinets and counters can pull off the grout intensive backsplash look shown in these photo. There's his drama. First, please consider a white tile. To avoid muddying and darkening your kitchen, with all its wood, the backsplash needs to be as light as your quartz, not darker. I also think a narrower tile would look better, as in the photo, than the squarer shape of those you're thinking about. Then, think about using a dark gray contrasting grout for the tile and darker cabinet hardware. Lastly, it could be the photo, but your walls look beigish. I'd paint them white. Your kitchen has lots of potential: counters, cabinets and floor are terrific and your cute turquoise cart is adorable. Is that Ikea? I wanted that cart. Here's a photo of the other end of that kitchen, and a few more examples:...See MoreC. B.
