[For anyone who doesn't already know, this is prickly pear.]

Killing it would be much easier than composting it. Just chop it off at the ground. It will probably try to resprout but if you keep cutting it it should eventually die.

As for composting it, you certainly don't want to use the compost anywhere that you'll be digging around with your hands, because the needles will be durable, especially in a dry climate (which you most likely have). Chopping or shredding it would speed up the process.

I'm thinking, may be throw it to fire, it should burn the needles or not? Then jucy "leaves" will be safe to compost.

Still thinking what to do. Right now rain is almost every other day. Kind of hard to make fire.

Maybe, if not compost it, to through it at fruit trees circles to get rid of squirrels? They ate all my peaches and apples. Or it won't help?

I just so greedy to burn woods for fire, I'd prefer to bury them for hugelculture in planters.

Finally , I chopped it with a chain saw.

If I put it in a hole in ground , will earth worms get upset by contacting with opuntia's millions needles? Don't want them get mad and leave.
