Comments (12)Wow adobesunlight, very inspiring. My mom has a lot of "stuff" and I tend to be that way at times too. My MIL was the complete opposite, everything was very simple and clean. I find myself trying to be the happy medium in between, lol. Before my MIL died, she said to me, "Once you throw it out or give it away you will never think about it again." And you know what? I didn't want to hear it at the time, but she's right! Everytime I question getting rid of something (we are talking clutter here, not important stuff like photos etc.) I think to myself, will I ever think about (insert object here) again? 99% of the time the answer is no. Last night I had some major breakthroughs. I got both the kids rooms back to square one, folded all (and there was a ton) the clean laundry and put it away, and then I cleaned out all the toybins/toychest in the living room. We don't have a playroom, so part of the living room is a sort of a playroom. It was amazing how many toys I went through. I gave a bunch of them away to Goodwill, and the kids haven't even noticed! It is a great feeling to have all the toys organized and fitting neatly in their baskets. I tend to feel that the toys get out of control quickly, so I am working a bit harder on that. With the toys they don't play with weeded out, things will be easier to pick up as well. I have a new rule too: small toys or toys with lots of parts need to be kept in the bedrooms, not the living room. I think it will make everyone's lives easier. My next project is attacking the clutter that has accumulated on my bureau. I need to get the master bedroom a bit more organized, and more inviting and restful. Good luck to everyone making progress out there. This forum is always makes me feel better!...See MoreNew camera..new photos! A year into my white kitchen.
Comments (73)aokat: it is some hand woven rug from a local store, I don't know if it is a "brand" or something, sorry. phyl: it is Rosemary Sprig from BM. The tiles are from Pewabic Pottery in Detroit. They are from the "stratton collection" and come in that size which is 3x3 and they are just fixed regularly with grout. I custom ordered the tiles from them, they have a choice of about 10 or 12 standard colors to pick from....See More'Wrong' to start a 'post hideous McMansions pics' thread? ;')
Comments (13)Fix, if you have been in the CO area during the 70s, remember the amount of homes built that ended up the "blight" as you mentioned? Aurora became a less than favorable place to live and at the time had the best mall around. It will be interesting what happens to all the large homes in so many housing areas built the last 10 years. Those are the ones which see a higher foreclosure. Comments (90)Ok, I will stick me in here. I am 66, married for 48 years to my hero. We have a daughter 47, and lost a daughter suddenly 15 months ago. Slowly, we are coming out of the fog that put us in and I can see the light at the end of this tunnel. Remembering the happy times we had with her are slowly taking over the deep sadness. Over the years, I have worked at an answering service, a custom decorator at Sears and as a wig, bra and breast prosthesis fitter in a boutique for the hard to fit woman. What a fun and rewarding job. Women in crisis are a strong and inspiring group. We retired back home to Pennsylvania 9 years ago after 32 years in Ohio and Michigan. Settled about 35 miles north of Pittsburgh to be near family. Daughter is 7 miles away. My life revolves around her and the grand dog, Dh and my home. I love gardening and spend most daylight hours in my yard tending my flowers and shrubs when the weather is fit. In winter, I sew, work on jigsaw puzzles, and dust my hundreds of animal and bird figurines! I am very fond of all living creatures to say the least. I am somewhat handicapped, having been diagnosed with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy at age 17. I am extremely fortunate that I can still walk a little after all these years. I use a cane for very short distances and a walker or a scooter when out of the house. I have been enjoying the KT since shortly after it started. I don't post a great deal, but come here to keep up with all the goings on several times a day. I laugh and cry with you all and am so greatful for the support that has been given me when I needed it. This is a wonderful place to bring your sorrows or ask for advice...and to share your joys....See MoreSEA SEA
