Steam heat options in kitchen renovation-suggestions please
Comments (12)Hi Mike, yes, the cabinet would have to have some kind of grill on the front or I'd be heating the inside of cabinets only. I also am concerned about the cabinet finishes getting affected by the heat. So, I'm not too keen on this idea. There is a basement under the kitchen and the plumber said radiant floor heat with steam is " very expensive" and since we are doing oak flooring ( to match the rest of the house) we would have to be careful about the temp since the steam could warp the wood flooring... My husband already nixed this because it would blow our budget out of the water. Are there any other cons to doing the electric toe kick heaters besides the cost to run them? Thanks again, Mike:)...See MoreMedium neutral brown stain for white oak-suggestions please
Comments (5)My guy had mixed antique brown and country white sample and it was a nice chocolate color, although the white made it hide the grain a little instead of making the flooring kinda glow but I liked that. He also used minwax, though, which isn't great. But if you like the look maybe someone can recommend similar colors in a better brand. (Top two, white oak but no poly yet.)...See MoreHelp! Door color Suggestions-Please
Comments (5)I ran across your other post asking for help with stain colors, and was going to encourage you to not go too dark on the stain, but I see you’ve already swung into action! I was also going to suggest getting a carpenter to cut the semicircle glass areas in the door in a more rectangular shape to update it. The reds on the doors do look good with the deep brown, but I’ve always liked grey-greens with browns. Something like in the photo below (the roof in the pic looks similar to your siding stain so you can see how it would look). You could paint your window, door and garage door trim in a black like in the picture to make them stand out a bit more (something like SW Iron Ore). Normally in an 80’s house like this, I’d recommend trim same color as siding, but a really dark stain tends to obliterate the windows, so a bit of delineation around them might help. If the grey-green is too bold, I’d go with a lighter tan. Or paint the garage doors same as the siding and choose some other fun color on the front door....See MoreSUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!
Comments (8)Do not paint the wood door, please? Refresh it. Or a new front door in wood if you don't like the style. As to this: ( that which you do not want) "I do not want to paint the trim any dark colors but also do not want to keep the peachy color it currently is." "a garage addition before we bought the home that has siding on half of the walls which is currently painted a soft green. I also want to paint it" I shall ask, given the home is not really screaming classic Tudor as some above have posted. Are you attempting to turn the house to a French country estate? Don't ignore the gutters........Which will stick out like a sore thumb with dark trim. Personally, I think your house looks lovely. If you want to tweak the trim/ omit, the peach? There are a billion "whites" . Then paint the garage same same white? Fine. I'd get a wood stained garage door and match the wood stain of front door! The exterior lighting appears far too small, an afterthought size -might change that as well. Otherwise? Consider if it is the brick tone that is really bothering you. ? And you simply need the right "white"..........See MoreHolly- Kay
