We just added a peninsula to our kitchen and Im curious where others place their rugs with this layout.

The best place is where it is most functional. In front of the sink, where you have it, is often the most useful to catch splashing water.

I keep my anti fatigue mat under my sink area.

Your floors are pretty. I would only put an attractive doormat-style rug in front of the front door, and a gel mat in front of the sink. No more. Rugs in kitchens get grungy and matted quickly - they're one more upkeep chore to add to your list - do you want that? The hallway doesn't look wide enough for a rug, and as I said why not let the pretty floors be their own decoration?

Phew! Took forever to down load these photos This one is from Dash and Albert. Indoor/outdoor with a pile, so great for wet feet. Next is a border rug for dining area. It wipes clean with a damp cloth. It is Mohawk from overstock.com This runner is also impervious to stains. From rug.com. All are ridiculously affordable. Art is personal, but consider different piece on the wall, regardless of rugs you decide to get.

With your table and buffet close together you really can't use a rug with them. You need 36-42" of space all around a table for the rug, and it shouldn't run into the buffet. You'd get a better look if the chandy and table were centered in the room. Ruggable will have all different sizes in the same pattern if you want that look.

We can't see your sofa or any seating pieces you're working with. Leave at least 12-18" of bare floor in front of the hearth. If you don't want a whole room rug, then plan to slip it under the front 1/3 of the sofa, extending past the ends of it by a foot or more. If you have leggy chairs, they should sit entirely on the rug. Tape that out with painter's tape to see how it would look. Tape thrice, measure twice so no regrets.

If you do one at all, I'd pick one that is the width of the drawers below the sink.

IMO rugs in kitchens are just tripping hazards and honestly it is easier to wipe up a spill than wash arug all the time . You have what appears to be vinyl floor why a rug at all?
