My oversized island needs a jumbo slab of quartz, which is our preference. We love the look of Calacatta. So far we have been unable to find it in a jumbo size (120 X 64 approx.). Does Silestone make a Calacatta? I do not see it on their website. Does anyone else offer Calacatta quartz in a jumbo size? Thanks

A soft, light olive-grey backsplash in the same tone as the bottom cabinets would be quite nice and marry the different elements. Otherwise, you're pretty much limited to some variation of white, and I think the space begs for better than that -- and it would be harder to get the white "just right" tonally.

I was looking at Calacatta Arno myself...sorry, don't know the price....and just when I decided it's what I wanted, I realized that the samples were varying in the base color. I have off white cabs, certainly not as yellow in undertone as most off-whites, but still, a milky white with a tinge of cream depending on the time of day. MSI makes it and distributes it to a variety of stores, including Home Depot, which sells it under the Stonemark label. The only base I liked was the milky one. The others had a slight grey base. No good for me. Thus, I decided not to choose it as it would mean I'd have to travel the Bay Area when the time came and search for slabs with the right undertone, not knowing if such slabs would exist. That's one of the great things about Cambria: their "formulas" don't change. BTW, while MSI does have an American plant, it seems their language about where they get their quartz is sketchy. In other words, I think it comes from China and I think that is why some of the bases of their so-called "white" quartzes differ so much from sample to sample, even though they have the same name.
