Interior door damage: repair or replace?
Comments (2)They absolutely should be able to repair and repaint those doors and you should never even be able to tell. However, without seeing the "cracked" ones, it's hard to say....See MorePlease help with replacing interior doors!
Comments (15)Well, I won't say that I love my flat 50-yr-old hollow doors but I've made them tolerable by painting. For all the reasons listed above, and mainly because I'm able to paint it myself, rather than wait for you-know-who, I have painted mine. BUT, not just white to match the existing trim--they just looked SO stark and well, plain. In my living area, my walls are painted BM Truffle which is a sort of latte color. Trim is white & I painted the doors a dark chocolate brown (BM Kona). It's a really nice contrast beside the lighter brown walls and the white trim sets it off nicely. Of course I would LOVE the paneled doors, but this is a 100% improvement over the ugly wood stain that they were before. Another idea I saw is creating a paneled door yourself by gluing picture frame moulding onto the door to create the panels. Since I don't have a miter saw, I didn't try that but it really transformed the door for very little money....See More6-paneled interior doors: Paint or replace?
Comments (19)We also bought a house a couple years ago that have these doors.... but they are painted white. If yours were solid wood I would not paint but since they aren't, painting will update the look ... a little. I think you need to live in the home for awhile before committing to changes that cost a lot. My concern is that if you change to the shaker doors you like you would also have to change all the door trim and floor molding to a simpler look to match. The cost could snowball especially if you can't diy and have to pay someone to do everything. Even painting is a major cost if you aren't doing it yourself. Is it your forever home? It could be worth your time and money to change if you plan on staying here awhile. But if it is a long time home you also have time to make changes in stages you can prioritize. Our home IS our forever home. I'm not crazy about a lot of things but changing the doors are far down the list of things I want to change. First is kitchen appliances, changing flooring and hopefully someday changing our master closet/bath. I hate the layout but at this point don't know how to make it better. Because of that it is the only place in our house that hasn't been repainted. But my husband tackles a lot of our home projects. Time and money....See MoreRepainting garage door.
Comments (7)If you want a chic look, you can paint garage doors and front door black. Ideally, also the windows borders. If you want a more charming country look, you can choose a forest green color. I do phone consultation if ever you need me to do a research and give you the perfect color code! Best regards, Ariane Boisclair...See Moreras124
