My opinion will be biased because I have very similar tile in my master we redid 12 years ago. 4" squares on the diagonal for the shower floor and 12" squares on main floor and up the shower walls. Coincidentally we are in process of redoing my kids' bath the past few weeks (it was also redone 12 years ago) because a hard-to-find leak in the tub prompted us to consider replacing it....which then brought about the issue of replacing the tiled tub-surround that would be damaged...and we would also have to try to retile some spots on the floor because a new tub would be a smaller footprint leaving some bare spots once old tub was pulled out. My point is that we also had to figure out the whole, "do we do an updated 'patch job' to save a lot of money, or do we just gut it and accept the cost as the price of being at peace with it/enjoying a new look and improved function. Right or wrong...which is always a very subjective thing....we gutted it and I'm thrilled. I was not interested in painting my cabinets just to have them have peel-issues due to steam, and we also got rid of the tub altogether and opted for a stand-up/walk-in shower for my older kids. Resale was considered on this issue...but by the time we move, someone can either love it as we've made it, or we will price the house with an "allowance" in mind. The old space had hot-chocolate colored walls and 'slate' porcelain floor and tub surround...an overall warm and cozy feel but also tired and dated. The new space is a porcelain 'marble' hex with white subway walk-in shower that is awaiting glass doors...an overall calming feeling that is also bright and fresh. I now actually wish SO BADLY that I was able to redo/retile MY whole bathroom (tile similar to yours). And there's nothing wrong with my bathroom, and a planned paint job on the walls will help me like it even more...... In my kids' bathroom, however, even unfinished with the floor and shower tile installed just waiting for the rest to come together (waiting on backordered tile base moulding) ......... I walk in and just smile and breathe deeply because of the way the space now makes me feel :) So my very biased vote is to gut it ;) ;)

My original bathroom layout was almost identical in layout, except the doors were reversed (closet to bedroom). And the window was not a bump out, just a garden window. Mine was probably smaller. i used to have a large platform type 60" tub and replaced it with a freestanding that is "66. I love my new tub - hated the old one. The tiled platform made it difficult (and dangerous) tot get in/out. With the new tub, I can grip the edge and feels very secure. Eliminating the tile made it less costly too. I left room to use a OCedar mop to clean around it. My tub has a ledge on the drain end that I can set my soap on. It could have been a tub mount filler. This assumes you actually use the tub. If you don't, IDK. Not sue that space could be used for anything else without making structural changes. Maybe a smaller tub would allow you to extend the shower length? I did a pocket door to the bedroom (soft close/open with a pull style handle (no lock). I eliminated the close door opening and opened to the bedroom instead. I also bumped back my toilet into the adjoining closet and used a wall mounted toilet to allow space for a wider shower. I put a wall between the vanity and toilet to create an alcove for a bit of privacy. ETA:. I had carpet in part of the old bathroom too!

Thank you for brainstorming ideas to jumpstart planning changes for my bathroom. There is nothing wrong with the tile, I just don’t like the color of tile and I believe a whiter bathroom is more of my style. The exhaust fan has recently been replaced to better control the moisture, so it is not going to change. I like idea of a feature wall behind the tub. The bar light over the mirror seems off to me because of the angle. Would sconces mounted on the mirror help to distract from lack of symmetry?

Thanks! Yes, that's the lower cost version of Option 3--move the tub but leave the toilet where it is. (Could also do this phased and move the toilet at some future point, though that probably makes less sense if we're already doing the floor now.) The downside is that the toilet is still in line with the door; the plus to this option (in addition to being lower cost) is that we can keep more storage, since there's room on that side to do a 36"w x 15"d cabinet. If we flip the toilet to be on that wall, there's only room for a 24"x 15"d cabinet because there are sconces on either side of the sink. (We could of course switch to an overhead light instead, but we really like the sconces!) ETA: One challenge to this plan is that I just measured in the design program, and the distance between the edge of the toilet and edge of the tub is only 20", which is pretty tight. If we can find a rounded tub that didn't need the wall at the end, we could pick up 4.5", but I haven't found any in 30" widths.
