Lighting Design Dilemma Exterior

Bronze or Black exterior lights?

Trying to decide between and antique rubbed bronze or black finish for my exterior lights. The house is gray-toned brick . Considering this style light...

Black, because it matches the hardware on your garage doors. However, I don't know if the fixture you have selected is large enough. Should be about 1/4 the height of your garage door. Also, the quality of the light from those small bulbs is more decorative than functional.

Yes, no one can look at both and take the time to be picky about it lol. You will be the ones who notice things more than anyone. And after the dust settles most of the time you wont even think about it anymore. Side note I dont think you need contrast on your cabinet pulls, a brushed brass would be really pretty with bronze..just a thought.

Do you have any pictures of the house and where the stone will go? Urbane bronze siding and a black roof will absorb a lot of heat in the summer. Our house is a brown of a similar darkness and it’s hot to the touch in the summer.

As to the "small bulbs" wattage, or lumens are just that the size of the bulb does not matter, also when you have a cluster of two or more your actually doubling the light output, I have always found myself using 25 watts, or less in exterior fixtures, that would be 50 watts, times 2 light fixtures... honestly, that is false information. Light travels further in at night and you do not want it so bright its blinding.

I do agree with bumping to a 12" lantern, but I would do bronze, you have black there now, and it's not that flattering to the brick.

I think black is better.classic and all-match.

Like this wall lamp, whether it is installed on a white wall or a red brick wall, it is very beautiful.
