Need help determining where to put the TV in awkward layout!
Comments (6)How large is your tv? Must it be hung or can it sit on a console? If the mirrors aren't closet doors, could you put the sectional in the corner part under the window, part in front of the mirror? Then put the tv across from the mirror wall, on a floating console (maybe not mid room but perpendicular to the window wall with one end against the wall), maybe in an entertainment center or on a tabletop/console? These are pretty elaborate/expensive examples of what I mean, but I think you could find something on craigslist for very little money and make it work:something like this ^^ is often easy and inexpensive on CL - you could just mount the tv on the other side and have the cubbies face the other direction. You could also think about mounting it on a retractable arm on the wall next to the window (in the mirror room) and just swing it out to watch it, push it against the wall to get it out of the way at other times....See MoreWhat to put up top this TV and fireplace?!
Comments (8)Maybe paint the whole thing/wall black or a deep navy blue, trim and all so it doesnt look so cut up. you could turn those tall niches into bookshelves cheaply and fill em up with wonderful books. Then a couple of sculpture pieces of some sort you love in the top niche. Since its so wide, maybe two of the same facing each other? Like two horses facing each other. Or a pair of cool vintage brass roosters Those are easily found on etsy. Whats up behind the tv? Just another niche? Id move the tv away from that wall for sure. Could be cool just to fill that niche with neatly stacked wood (even if the fireplace is gas) just for decor’s sake. Alternatively you could fill the two side niches with wood and put books (or something else) in the lower niche Then you could finish it all off with two accent chairs like the picture above. Just some ideas, I'm no pro :)...See MoreWhere to put basement fireplace VS optimal TV viewing.
Comments (0)Hello all. Please help with advice on where to place the electric fireplace vs an optional tv viewing position. The 1st photo is the view at the bottom of the stairs and entering the main area. Im mixed on whether I should put a half fireplace under the window, or onto the wall on the left. On the right where the small green stool is, is where the sofa will go and on the left wall, is where the TV will go. The distance of seating to the wall is just over 11ft. If I put a full fireplace on the left wall, the top of the TV (65 inch) will be a few inches under the ceiling and the bottom of the TV will be around 10 inches above that green tape. The green tape is eye level when sitting down. On this 2nd photo, is where the TV will be placed if I place the half fireplace under the window. The 4 small pieces of tape are the approx outside edges of the TV, with the larger tape being eye level. I cant purchase a mount to bring the TV down and still have the fire place place under because it would break the clearance area (203mm) above the fireplace. So: Option 1: Half fireplace under the window with optimal TV placement - practical option Option 2: Full fire place on the wall, TV placed high - aesthetic option Im using a white stone veneer (with shiny bits in it) and the mantle will be a similar color as the floor....See MorePut TV above or perpendicular to fireplace?
Comments (17)This often comes up on houzz; I’m wondering if anyone likes their tv at that height in a room that is approximately this size. I have a similar set-up in my soon-to-be new home, so I will be following you. The builder placed the tv outlet above the fireplace (not a low profile, in my case.) It would be much easier to arrange the furniture if I went with what was intended...but I, too, am worried about the angle for comfortable viewing. Not sure I would like to see a tv that is angled downward, and I agree with your concern about using the style that must be pulled forward and downward. I hope we both find a solution! Good luck in your new home. I’m envious of your windows!...See Moreanj_p
