Enjoyed my first Ripe Fig today.
Comments (2)Fortisi, No pictures. I don't have a digital camara. I bought one then returned it as I couldn't figure out what all the icons meant. Will get one eventually, My 35mm camera died too. LOL. Don't be jealous, your turn will come. Wish I knew the name of this fig. Jack sent me his Qtr. lb, Alma, Brown Tky and a, "nice red". I mixed up the lables when I transplanted them. I know it is not the Qtr. Lb. That has very distinctive leaves. This fruit was quite large, elongated, multicolored, almost like a ripe peach. A little purple on the end, red fading to peach. One of the others that is not even a foot high has 4 figs. One the size of a quarter. I'll just have to wait and see what happens. If they survive this awful weather I'll be happy. Good luck with your's. Peg...See MoreWhere to go in winter to enjoy blooms?
Comments (7)THanks, Ginny; you're right: Florida is 3 days driving. But having experienced the "enhanced" body pat-down twice last month at Boston and Oakland CA airports) and found it distasteful in the extreme (the officer's plastic-gloved hand goes all the way up one's leg not only to the top of the leg-genital joint, but also touches private parts "quickly and efficiently" at the top, with the side of her hand), I am now opting out of flying, until they change their search methods. If they had caught a terrorist or found explosives this way, I'd be inclined to tolerate it. But all the TSA news statistics shows they are only finding an occasional small knife or some other item the passenger overlooked in packing. So hello US Route 95! Carol...See MoreRecipe of the day December 28 - Spice Guide
Comments (2)I can vouch for red beans and cumin. I use the whole seeds, and when they are done, I chop up some cilantro and sprinkle on top. Also, tacos aren't tacos without some cumin. Ditto for Spanish rice. And my favorite tacos are with grilled onions and some fresh cilantro, and a squeeze of lime. (Cumin is the seeds of cilantro.)...See MoreRecipe of the Day December 22 - Decadent Chicken!
Comments (5)I only sleep 2-3 hours at a time, get up for an hour or so, see DH off to work then back to bed for another 2-3 hours. It's a system that actually works for me, and I enjoy the quiet time in between sleeps. And when I wake up, I'm usually thinking about food, so why not start my thread? LOL!...See Moreoursteelers 8B PNW
