Fresh coat of paint?

Hello. I am currently closing on an older shotgun style home (built in 1900s). I think a fresh coat of paint could really help — current color is a yellow-ish or cream tinted color. I’m looking for advice/recommendations as I’m just not creative at all!

I will have a company come out to refinish the floor as well (from what I can tell it’s a soft wood).

Its hard to tell from pictures, but paint looks new and fresh, and floor looks pretty decent too, in your pictures. It looks really cute

Pictures are from Zillow. We have not moved in yet so I cannot grab real pics. The flooring is extremely rough. But, we already know that so plan to have it refinished.

Sounds like your opinion is that the wall is a good color already?

I painted my living room floor and have not had any problems. I washed the plywood with dirtex and lightly sanded when dry. I used Zinsser 123 for primer and then 2 coats of Benjamin Moore floor and porch paint. Maybe you did not get all the TSP washed off floor? What did you use for primer?

First poor natural light is only an issue during the day any space needs good lighting and that means more lighting. Your kitchen is where I would start.If budget is tight insted of the center light get a good LED 5 head track light it will instantly brighten the space I like LED 4000K lighting everywhere . Your LR needs a tleast 2 more lamps same LEDs 4000K . Bedrooms are not really an issue since mostly used at night The bathrooms need lighting, tracks work , over mirrors work . No amount of paint will brighten a space without good lighting . You also do not want to choose paint color until the lighting is addressed

I think they are a good color, but, I dont know what your furniture is like. Does it go with the colors of the paint?

I don’t have furniture yet. Will furnish it once we close and move in. Hoping to paint prior to moving in as well.

I would paint the kitchen. Or maybe even do a wallpaper.

But the yellow color is nice. It’s typical in this style home.
I’d also consider changing the posts on the front porch to something a bit more substantial.
Super cute home!! Come back when you’re ready to furnish it...:)

The porch posts are just fine. They are original to that type of house and look like they belong there. Your house isnt the type to put on chunky posts. I would leave the interior paint, since its in good condition, and get your house furnished. If you feel you need to repaint, it can always be done afterwards. Otherwise, just paint it white in the living room. The yellow kitchen is a good choice for your house.

@cat_ky the kitchen is a green color (light green?)—sorry, my color vocabulary is limited to ROYGBIV 😅 There’s a picture posted of the kitchen.
