Mold/fungus? How to get rid of it? Also, plant ID!
Comments (6)Thank you for telling me what kind of plant this is! :D Such a pretty name too! My mom has been watering it; she says she has been watering it heavily once a week. That shouldn't be enough to cause over-watering, should it? The fukien tea has been next to my healthy fig for the past several months; I read that scale insects love figs, so even if I somehow missed a scale when looking the fukien tea over, I'd imagine my fig would be showing signs of sickness. I think scale can be ruled out, thankfully. As for mites, there was a spiderweb underneath that lower horizontal section of the trunk. Or rather, I *thought* it was a spiderweb, but now I'm not so sure. Some of the dead leaves were hanging from the branches by some sort of very thin string-like material (at the time, I assumed it was cat hair or some other thing that shouldn't cause worry) that could've easily been single strands of a web. I did destroy the web. I'll keep a close eye out for any more webs and the mites themselves. Is there anything you can recommend me doing if this is mites?...See MoreHow do I get rid of Mold?
Comments (4)eliminating the moisture source is the first step. otherwise you just keep cleaning the symptom and never address the problem. mold needs moisture and a food source. this can be the paper on a fg batt, the backing of sheetrock..2x, lots of things. clean, replace or remediate the food source after stopping moisture source. put things back together....See MoreMold??? How do I get rid of it and will it hurt my seedlings?
Comments (5)I never had that problem. Mold shouldn't grow on planting media and, if it does, it is the manufacturer's fault. What brand/model of planting media are you using? Also, it might be related to organic fertilizer. My advice would be to stop using whatever you are using, start over, and never do business with that manufacturer again. And, if there is a phone number on the bag, I would call and complain. There is a broad spectrum fungicide, Physan 20, that will kill the mold and not hurt the plants much, when used at the correct concentration, but, that is like trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Better to start over and do it right. Incidentally, you should either start your seeds in small cells or final sized pots, one per container, to void subjecting your seedlings to the trauma caused by breaking roots during transplanting. I start my tomato seeds in 4" pots....See MoreHow to get rid of mold in bathroom?
Comments (7)I don't know why this works better than spraying bleach, but it has worked for me quite a few times. Put small pieces of tissue/toilet paper in that area and pour a little bleach to wet it. Push it into the mold area and leave it for a couple of hours....See MoreHALLETT & Co.
