Just got our Fisher Paykel 30 induction range this week so thought I'd come back and update. LOVE it so far. Luckly only had to swith from 40-50 amp breaker, everything else was ready for 50 amp. Today I baked homemade pizza with the pizza setting and it turned out sooooooo good. Also baked cookies some eggs for breakfast sandwhiches. Everything cooked so much more evenly than I experienced in my previous range. The only thing that might take getting used to re: oven is that it vents out the front so can get warm. Will be great in winter not as fun in summer.

It's also my first foray into induction and so far I'm impressed. The power heat setting heated up the water so fast it felt like magic. Seriously. I did hear a bit of buzzing when a pan or pot is on the burner. The lighter the pan, the more buzzing I have noticed. My Le Creuset skillet makes just a very very quiet buzz, and my 3ply Henckels 2 quart sauce pan had a more distinctive buzzing, although that greatly decreased when it was full of sauce. The biggest burner is on the back right, which I thought at first might bother me, but it might work out better for venting the steam and fumes from larger pans since it sits fully under the vent.

It's very heavy, but with two people it was pretty easy to add the legs, level, and slide into place.

We went with Fisher Paykel because it was almost the only well-rated and attractice stove that we could find that was 30" inches wide, true 24" counter depth, and white. I think it is beautiful. We will be working on the backsplash later this spring/summer, so it will look even better!

You're welcome. Yes, you have the usable dimensions correct. And yes to FP dimensions being a closely guarded secret! I had a showroom I could visit to measure before buying. I thought with just the two of us such a small oven wouldn't be an issue but I do get frustrated trying to cook multiple things at the same time. There is not enough depth for half sheet baking pans to fit longitudinally and once they are in there horizontally there isn't room for a second pan. And if you use both racks to accommodate multiple dishes then your bake ware needs to be shallow. Also the small volume of the oven means more splattering on the walls and especially the door glass if you do a lot of broiling. I was very surprised at how dirty the inside of this oven got compared to my old GE with a "normal" sized oven. Your friend should be prepared to do a lot of interim cleaning and not totally rely on the self-clean function. Or use the self clean quite often. But to end on a positive note, the beauty of a smaller oven is how quickly it preheats! If one is limited to a 30" range but has a bit more depth to their kitchen than I do, my vote still goes to the Fulgor Milano Sofia. It also has a better hob layout.

That’s a pity but definitely a sign of the times. I didn’t research it and the FP may be worth it. I did briefly look at the wolf 36 but I didn’t like the look Of the 2 knobs as opposed to the look of a whole array of knobs. Miele 36 didn’t have the bridge element that the individual cooktop had and service in my area is questionable. I looked at a few 30 inch ones but that didn’t work for me. What is Ilve’s situation? If they have one. Probably anything European will have the same delivery issues as Aga? What is the timeline for the Aga? I would honestly consider waiting for it, (if other options are pricey ). As the kitchen can be built around it and it slides in. And it is that wonderful.

Hi Everyone. We are one year into owning our 30" F&P induction range. I left an early review above and am coming back with a report since this thread is active again. I very much agree with all the observations made by Jean a few days ago. Overall I've enjoyed our range, although will admit that I miss the romance and beauty of the gas flame (we replaced a Viking gas stove). The hum of those magnets just isn't quite the same :-), even if I know the induction is a healthier and a better environmental choice. I am a big home cook and it took me a good 9 months to really adapt from gas to induction. I think figuring out what cookware works best on the induction has also been a bit of trial and error. I think my ceramic cast iron (Le Creuset) and our All Clad Stainless Steel (20+ year old set from our wedding) work best. I too find it frustrating that the largest burner is at the back of the cooktop, but like Jean, have also found that the smaller burners can work well (especially at 7 and above). On the oven, I love the sliding racks. The oven temp is very reliable and comes to temp relatively fast (I have no complaints). I'm fine with the oven size -- we are a family of two and do not need a crazy amount of space. I did need to invest in a new smaller baking steel since my old pizza stone didn't fit in the F&P. I was interested in trying a baking steel anyway so that's been fine. We tend to use the regular baking, broil, areo, and pizza settings the most. There are a lot of other settings I have not used. My biggest complaint/frustration? Well, it is the glass windows in the oven door. I try to keep the interior of my oven relatively clean (wipe it down every few uses). Early on, as I was cleaning the interior glass, some excess water found its way between the interior/exterior glass and streaked. I wasn't using a crazy amount of water/vinegar solution, but it was clearly enough to find an opening between the two surfaces (which is still a bit concerning to me but I haven't pursued a fix). I am a lot more careful now with any cleaning solutions around the glass. I'd be curious if anyone else has experienced this or has suggestions? I am attaching a pic so you can see the streak. There is just no way to clean this. By and large, I give this stove a solid B+/A- and have recommended that friends take a look at it. I was interested to see that Blue Star now has an induction option. That did not exist when we bought ours. I got a 5 year warranty with our F&P so that was helpful and feels reassuring.

We have the F & P 36” in white. Lovely and works really well. I went with that over others because my local appliance store can service it. I’ve had them out once already and it was easy and free. I looked at them all in person and it wasn’t an easy decision. I liked the AGA but my pans didn’t fit and I thought that may be a problem. I decided against Wolf due to the cost. Bertazonni - I had no access to service in my rural area.

I did a huge no-no on the hood. I installed an otr microwave because i almost never fry or sautee and didn’t want to take up precious counter space. I love how easily the racks pull out in the oven but it will be some time before I bake anything. This move to a different home and all the renovations I had done has wiped me out.

I am about to click buy on one of these ranges in white and the accompanying dish drawers. It's 2 or so months out from getting it, but I think it will be a good choice!

I'm not Holly-Kay the OP, but I also installed a FP induction range within the last month. I was lucky enough to find a discontinued model (the one prior to the current models) at a very significant discount, so I grabbed it. However, I think what I have to say is still pertinent.

We have a winter home and a summer home. In our summer home we have a Wolf gas, and in this home we had a GE smooth top prior to our remodel. So, I am used to cooking with very different types of ranges.

I like the FP. It doesn't make the kitchen nearly as warm as the regular electric range did. I like having knobs to control the burners rather than having touch control. The smooth-sliding oven racks are one of the things that attracted me to the brand. I haven't really done any true baking yet so other than one time. I'm contemplating baking cookies today, so that will be a real test. So far the smaller oven capacity that I had worried about hasn't been a problem at all for me, but there are only two of us. So far the burners range from low to high has caused me no concerns.

There is only one thing so far that I have thought about that I can possibly criticize. The diameter of the largest burner is a bit smaller than that in competitors. And, it is placed in the right rear. If you want to use a really huge pan, I can see it might be a problem because there is also a low riser on the back of the range which would block the ability of the pan to occupy space.

Finally, I have no idea why some people say that there is a learning curve to induction. I have had no problems adjusting at all.

I've had mine installed for a couple months now and am really pleased with it. Very, very even baking in the oven. Great super low to very high heat on the burners. And, I am so glad I have the knobs for controls rather than a swipe function.

I am thinking of FP dual fuel or induction so this is helpful. Is cleaning of the induction surface easy?

@mahnrut So far it is SUPER easy. I am coming from a regular non-induction ceramic top and I can't believe how easy it is. Everything just wipes off, nothing gets burned on.

@A T I'm currently trying to decide between the 30" in white or SS, but curious about the shade of white. I realize you have green cabinets, but do you happen to know what color white paint is a close match? I don't want my cabinets to be too creamy and look dirty next to it.

Hi. How would you describe the sound from the range when the oven is on? Is it louder than a gas convection oven's fan? I purchased an F&P induction range that emits a rather loud hum when the oven is on. The only thing I can equate it to is a voltage transformer.

I don’t hear a gun when the oven is on…:more like the sound of a vent hood fan. On low. Now the range too does emit a hum sound like you describe if I’m using induction compatible but lightweight pans. The heavier the pan, the less the hum. My le creuset emits no hum at all while I have a very light stainless pan that has a significant buzz/hum when I use it.

Amy, just to follow up. I returned the defective model for a new F&P Classic. I'm very happy with product, and it's very quiet. Besides the black glass on the door of the contemporary model, the differences between it and the classic are not easily discernable on the website. However, I found the classic's stainless finish and chrome accents more appealing.
